Roast parsnips slightly overcooked (black) and the goose breast was tough apart from that OK, mums carers wheeled her out to the dining room, she can't walk anymore so normally eats in her room, so it was nice to eat together and she managed a glass of wine whereas last year I had to drink all the alcohol, the things I have to go through. Not a disaster but so much work this xmas.
Had to cook 4, yes 4 xmas dinners.
Wife wanted pork so had to cook her pork and my steak. Then off to my mothers for Boxing day where I had to do a roast chicken for the wife and my brother, and a steak pie for the rest of us. Been a busy boy.
Then our youngest got too many toys and couldn't play with any for more than 10 mins before he was onto the next. Building and dismantling train sets, tidying up play doh, tidying up and building lego...non stop....but on the bright side, when he graduates from duplo to real lego, then I'll be having as much fun as him playing with it!!
4 dinners, two hyper kids who went to war with sleep and almost won...a long but rewarding few days.

A few years ago I, like chrisjw, had a port-induced power nap at about 5.30pm, and woke to discover it was 11.30pm!! Had to have a bottle of red wine to settle my nerves before going to bed This year, only the usual "You're SNORING!!" shouts from the other side of the room during Strictly, which I therefore successfully managed to completely avoid - result!

Works do a week ago, and it was a free bar so one or two people were having a bit of a go at it (I wasn't there so not me!). One of the ladies got so smashed that she ended up in A&E. No wonder Xmas is a busy time for the NHS!

Not really a disaster but Was hoping for a change. Boxing Day , 14 for tea as usual ( family and a couple of friends ) started a game of 9 card brag after kids gone to bed about 9pm. 20p in the pot, just the one game still going at 01.30 and total had built up to £168 ....getting tired and ready for my bed and then someone had the winning hand, unfortunately the same person winning it for the 4th year in a row!!! Grrrrr. Still during all that time most of the food was demolished so not so much clearing up for me and hubby when they had all gone...finally got to bed about 2.30 and youngest Grandchild up at the usual 06.00. Suffice to say I'm tired.
