If you like historical fiction, you may enjoy George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. The "Game of Thrones" TV series is based on it but that fails to show how great a writer he is. I'm currently waiting for the next book in the series.

I love Shaun Hutson Clivia, but may be more horror than thriller? Patricia Cornwell is milder.also Jodi Picoult

When I first saw the title of this post I immediately thought James Hernert, then you said thriller NOT horror, but I would still recommend him, try Fluke it is amazing, I have read all of his books and now cant find anything to match them RIP James

A good friend of mine is an author, not thriller though - woman in black some say is - Susan Hill- longest running theatre production in London I believe. I have read all of her books obviously, but didn't like the theatre show at all, in fact I walked out at half time and went for a bevvy in covent garden.

sammy13I've only read the first three of Susan Hill's books. I found Simon Serrailler to be a complete knob... Does he improve in the later books?
