Anyone reccomend a good broadband service ? BT just failed to point of court case, O2 were brilliant until sold to sky, now sky expect me to spend hours troubleshooting their faulty service, another court case looms, can anyone provide good broadband ??? MP I know your not going to like the answer but here goes. BT The reasons for this is firstly, you will be dealt with quicker than other suppliers as ALL land lines go through the BT network anyway and they always deal with their own customers first.Second they have codes of conduct they HAVE to work to.Next , most of BT's engineers are great , the one that go to other suppliers , e.g cable companies , are normally the ones that weren't that great , got told to buck their ideas up , then promptly left thinking the grass would be greener. Now, I'm not saying their perfect, by any stretch of the imagination , and OFCOM also seem to be in their back pocket to.me and a friend of mine had issues within a few days of each other and with roughly the same issue. We had dates far to far forward to be reasonable so we both complained to OFCOM , OFCOM said they were going to deal with company B , but when I complained about BT , they basically backed them up.Another case of a governmental body lining their pockets. I'm also not saying that their not liars either , as their "Home Hub" system , no matter which model it is, doesn't do the things they they say it does ( port forwarding for one ) , so the best thing to do is get your own router. The modem is fine and I use a ASUS router and I haven't had a problem for over a year.Even the last problem I had was a modem that failed and that's probably because my modem is on 24/7 , so it's not a surprise. I must admit, with the charges , it does seem as though they can't cope with the problems in a timely fashion , normally the wait time is between 4 and 5 days , which in my eyes is far to long. Watchdog even did a program about the service provided when customers had a problem and BT did come out on top by a long way. But all this maybe just for my area and London maybe a totally different kettle of fish. Andy

Andy Andy Thanks for that Unfortunately I had 2 years of hell with BT, long waits for technical dept, having to go through same crap each time I did get through, they were frankly appalling, as for there home hubs, I had 3, last one brought in by a BT engineer, none of them ever worked. It's strange that all of a sudden my service is working ok again, a little threat goes a long way lol. MP

mart166 Do you have an aftermarket router or a Home Hub still , I have found this to be invaluable to speeds and reliability ? I say this because I did a trial between the two and one has choked speeds and drop outs and just a general PITA where as the other doesn't miss a beat , I'll let you guess which is which . Andy

Just caught up with the thread. King's Head looks good, and very glad we're on for the 31st Jan, that being my second vapiversary. I'll be over to the meet thread to add my name right after this.
On broadband providers: they all seem to be pretty terrible. I'd love to get BT out of my life, but as far as I can tell, the rest of them are at least as bad. Someone could totally clean up with a reasonably good broadband service. They wouldn't even need to be brilliant. If they didn't actually suck, they'd be head and shoulders above all the competition.
