I just wanted to say thank you to jessica for posting these every day. Might be something wrong with me, but I look forward to trawling through the latest reports from around the world, & keeping up to date with the news.

Nothing wrong with you at all, it's only common sense to keep up with the scientific studies etc. being carried out, and the often downright peculiar, and dishonest conclusions drawn by the ANTZ and their bedfellows. Strangely enough since being a regular reader of these posts I have become much more critical of anything published by Governments, Health organizations etc. and anything in the popular press or on TV. Two years ago I would have accepted as fact anything coming from professional bodies and experts in the papers or TV documentaries, but certainly not now. Please keep up the good work you do jessica on our behalf and thanks for keeping us informed.

I suppose that depends on how it's done - I don't know that I would have taken kindly to it when I smoked but that might just be me maybe just you, but if you were really interested in giving up tobacco and switching to vaping, wouldn't an experienced vaper have helped you with kit, juice, how to use/maintain etc. for a better chance of achieving it? Yes - and I was helped by experienced vapers because I joined a forum and got advice from some very patient people on there - which bears out what you are saying. We've actually had a vaping buddy system in place for years I think too that good vaping shops do already perform this service - and their knowledge of what new users need is much more up to date than lots of long term vapers will be. What we really need is more decent shops. My main reservation though centres on the motivation of the person being helped - - the person who smokes would need to be very keen to take up vaping - and not getting pushed into it by a smoking cessation advisor. Personally too if I had to have lifestyle advice I could only stomach it from a professional. I suppose also I don't like the idea that smokers might see vapers as smug do gooders keen to show them the error of their ways.

News Review 11th OctoberThis is the week that was… A relatively quiet news week with no major breaking stories, a few news articles appeared following the release of further studies into Very Low Nicotine Content cigarettes (VLNC), which have been widely ridiculed as impractical, and a thorough waste of research money. The Welsh Government(WG) released study data clearly demonstrating no Gateway effect in Wales, amusingly, their own data was ignored by a WG ‘spokesperson’ quoting an obscure USA study instead(with very limited numbers) as proof. Finally of significance, a very interesting study from Dr Christopher Russell was published with a good analysis made by the ever excellent Sally Satel, highlighting how Vapers could help and encourage smokers in their transition, ie a formal ‘buddy’ system( one that haphazardly exists already).
