Is it the same for all android phones? Just had android 4.2.2 - and a few apps? tis a swees 5.0 - (512mb ram)
Any help most appreciated

What phone is it, as the root is different for different phones? I can do the search for you, or you could do a search here: forum.xda-developers.com/

Identified the phone as a Swees X506. The only method I can find involved enabling developer mode then downloading 'Root Genius'. This software install malware - which doesn't really matter as you're not using windows. I can't be any help @johanino

Those guides are for Gingerbread, which is Android 2.3.x Won't work with 4.2.2, could brick your phone unfortunately.

Again it's for Gingerbread. Froyo is a modded Gingerbread. Also XDA don't develope for this phone. To explain that second statement, it's not just Android that gets modified but the bootloader too. Use the wrong root and you can brick the phone. Not easy to find is it? That's down to this phone not being popular enough for peeps to develope a root for it. ETA: @johanino you could always sign up at the XDA forums and ask them direct.

So it's a distinct possibility it can't be rooted? What can I do then when I try and update google and it says it has no space for it? I really don't mind android 4.2.2. but don't like when I can't get things to work Jane
