Definitely as I only vape tobacco flavour and gennies make it shine, are the least faff atomisers as the builds last 6 months, a year, could be more. I good tip with the kraken is if you have a handheld steamer they are great for cleaning them in minutes, you just blast down the fill hole and it cleans the tank & wicks, quick dry burn and a final blast or steam to get the remains of the dry burn off the coil.

I Was Hoping You'd Reply M8!! ....... Cheers For the Steam-Cleaner Tip!...I've Been Trolling the FT Forum Re. Dis-Assembling the Kraken; Esp. to Get Shot of Machine Oil Lurkin' in Centre Post! Wot I've Done For Last 2 Days wiv the Mesh in My Magma, (Coil Still Gunks Pretty Quick....) is Pull the Mesh, Dry Burn Coil, Re-Fire Mesh Over the Hob & Re-Fit....Flavour's Def. 'Cleaner' than Muji.....+ I Would've Had to Use 'bout a Duvet's Worth Over 2 Days, as opposed to Same Bitta Mesh!

VapingBadI know its a bit of an ask but could you do a guide one day on how you build your krakens plz. Tried a few times followed a few different vids but it never seems to work. All I can taste is metal. Sorry mate I don't think I could do it well and am always learning, last build I went back to quenching the mesh after heating (dark orange) and repeating after reading a post about the oxidisation being more important than building up carbon (soot) on the mesh and that seem to work well. But I have only tried it once about 6 weeks ago as thes build last soooo long I don't even do one a month. I will see if I can take some picks the next time and maybe do something if they are good. Other points: Don't have the coils too tight, you should be able to twist your wick inside the coils, but not too loss that the wick moves when you shake the atty. Keep the legs short, if you can't you can use washers on the centre post to help bridge the gap or wrap the loose end of kanthal around the leg as a heat sink. I pulse on a DNA30, starting at 9 W (dual coils) to spot any shorts (arching or sparking, sort these quickly or they will burn a hole in the mesh or pop the coil) and work my way up to 25 W. Move the coil next to the brightest glowing one (it is too loose), twisting the wick or moving it up or down can help. Don't melt your insulator by pulsing for too long take a break or keep dripping some liquid on it. After you have finished pulsing, you haven't put some liquid on the wicks and recheck for hot spots one wrap drying before the others, this can happen later it your atty takes a knock and give you a metallic taste. Ribbon kanthal has better flavour, but requires better prepared mesh, you can get away with out oxidising mesh with round kanthal, but I cant get ribbon to it always shorts. My points probably reflect the things that gave me probs in the past than anything else. There are many good genny builders on here and getting several opinions is always better.

OK, Thanks. Do You Pull the Centre Strand Out?.. No, I have done before and don't find it makes much difference in the Kraken, but if you put a bung in the fill hole you might want to.

Update:- Kraken Clone Arrived Today! Gave The Centre Post Bit a Boil, Steam & a Soak in Isopropyl Alcohol. 1st Build wiv Ribbon & Mesh Was n't 100%....Got the Coil Glowing Evenly, No Hot Spots etc. But Flavour Deteriorated Quickly as My Steeped Baccy Did it's Usual Thing & Gunked Coil V. Quickly. 2nd Build; Went Lower Resist. @ 0.5 Ohm Using .3 Twisted Kanthal, Which Has Improved Things on the 'Clouds' Side But Flavour's Still a Bit Muted Comp. to a Meshed Magma...or Even, Truth Be Told, a Nano-ed Taifun...With Cotton... I'll Do a 3rd Build Tomorrow Eve. With the Ribbon, at 'bout 0.7-ish, ...& Order the S/S Rope! Altho' the Mesh Has Wicked Right Down to the Last of the Tank, So Not Sure I Really NEED the Rope.... Wot I Do NEED tho'....Is to Get Thru' a Tank of the Home-Steep Without Having to Clean the Coil....Reckon I'll Be Re-(Re..) Filtering All Me Juices Again!!!

The also rope cuts down the break in time a lot, mesh only wicks can take quite a few tanks before the flavour picks up.

I use some cheap cable cutters from eBay and wrap the wire with about an inch and a half square of brown paper from old envelope then a bit of selotape to stop it fraying.

I use 2 lengths of .23 Kanthal twisted to make one wire, four to five wraps over pre oxidised mesh works a treat in my Kraken. I tried two wicks made to the same spec but it was a throat ripper!
I have 2.5mm SS rope but I've never managed to get it to wick properly, I find it needs a hefty low ohm coil to heat up properly and it doesn't seem worth the extra battery drain.
