Ok this may seem a dumb question but what is Japanese cotton and why is it better than normal cotton?

Basically its organic cotton which has had no chemical treatment and is woven so the fibres all line up which makes it easier for getting through your coil.

From what i have been told it's organic, unbleached and the fibers on the outer layers all run in the same direction aiding wicking. Me i'm using these. I haven't tried the Japanese stuff but these pads i'm using fit the descriptions i've read of the Japanese pads and they only cost me £1 for 50 pads from a local shop. They're organic, unbleached and the fibers run in one direction. Maybe the Japanese pads perform better but these ones seem fine enough to me, i don't get any funky taste or anything from them and they wick perfectly well.

They are probably just as good i think the Japanese bit is just a passing fad and a way of making you think you are getting something special, so you pay more.

There are a number of different types of Japanese cotton pads just to complicate matters - some are better at holding juice than others which makes them wick better but honestly probably not masses in it. Certainly not necessarily worth paying a massive premium for anyway I use the Muji pads and as noted above the main advantage is they are just miles easier to use - I usually split the pad into three and then just gently cut a strip - far easier to work with than a cotton ball. I think the taste is a tad clearer but some of that is probably psychosomatic. Get them from Muji though as thats £2 for 100 there as opposed to £2-3 for 10 that a vaping retailer will likely charge you

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I've tried Japanese cotton and celucotton (rayon) and definitely prefer the latter. Just makes the juices taste a bit better to my taste buds and it's easy to wick as well and very cheap.

Rayon is very marmite - gave me (and many others) throat problems. It does wick like the clappers mind
