Afternoon folks,
I have got myself a kayfun 4 clone from vaping geek anD I have to say, its an impressive bit of kit. It has even taken over from my lemo as my bring to work atty as i can turn the juice flow off and avoid making my pockets smell like strawberry fields!
The only issue i have with it is the chimney is very difficult to remove even with vape grips! Is this anyone else has an issue with? is there a fix? would a replacement chimney from FT maker a difference?
anyway thanks for any advice

The one that screws in around the deck that you tuck your cotton inside?

Only small issue I had was unscrewing the base from the tank assy but after doing it a few times its no problem.
It's a very impressive clone IMO Can't see how a genuine example can be worth £90 more.
Not sure what bit you are having problems with, hope you get it sorted.

If you are having trouble with separating the base, put a screwdriver in the air holes for extra leverage, it works wonders

I think when the juice flow is off the plate tightens against the the chimney and makes it difficult to remove

HI
thanks for the advice folks. It was the main chimney, I will try leaving the juice control open when i rebuild it this evening.
I also had the problem with the airflow and i was pulling my hair out until i saw todds review and he mentioned the issue. I used an allen key and then put some vg on the orings and now its as smooth as me (actually smother!!)

If it's the conical evaporation chamber you're trying to remove from the tank then you need to have the liquid control open then remove the tank from the base as mentioned, with a suitably sized bar in one of the holes. Unscrew the top cap and remove the serrated counter nut, then unscrew chimney. If you're that far and it won't come off with vice grips the usual way is to put in in the freezer then try again, or gently heat the lower tank section which should expand and loosen it. Edit: Bit late, sorry, got waylaid halfway through typing with something burning in the oven

Hi all, we have also bought the hcigar kf4 from vape geek, a lovely bit of kit but i dont seem to be able to stop gurgling. Have stripped it down and rebuilt/re wicked it 4 times now to no avail. I manged to stop leaks but can't stop gurgling. I used the 0.8ohm coil that came with it and tried the wick that came in the box to start but that dried out and burnt through (may have had flow control closed). Any advice would be greafully received.

Have you any experience at coiling/wicking previous models of Kayfuns, if so the V4 is just the same, if not there are loads of vids on utube that can show better than I can explain how to do it. eg:- Once you have a good build and have filled the thing open up the juice control fully, turn the top section fully ckockwise, and vape away. Hope this helps, stick with it it's a brilliant bit of kit and worth the learning curve.

The only issue i have with it is the chimney is very difficult to remove even with vape grips! Is this anyone else has an issue with? is there a fix? would a replacement chimney from FT maker a difference? anyway thanks for any advice I'm glad it's not just me.Now I consider myself quite mechanically minded , as I'm a plumber and ever since I stated vaping I've realised that tightening things down like a compression fitting doesn't bode to well. The first time i wanted to do another build it was very tough to remove the chimney from the base , so when I had done the build I decided that less tight was better , even if it left a small gap between the piece that has the airholes in it and the chimney section. So , over the weekend when I decided to do another build I've come to a total standstill , the chimney is stuck fast to the base.It doesn't matter if the juice control is open or closed it still won't budge. When I tried to undo it the tank section undoes it self and the remainder of the juice goes over the table.SO , just having the chimney section and the base left ( after cleaning and drying ) I tried again with my fingers , rubber jar openers ( my cheap alternative to vape grips , but work well ) , even jar openers with grips attached and still NO movement. So , it's now going to have to be returned , and yes I did clean it thoroughly before I started doing anything. I could deal with other little things that maybe a bit tricky, but not being able to rewick or rebuild is a definite mess. slaw , do you think that there maybe a manufacturing tolerance that maybe be wrong here with the Hcigar version , or just that they rushed it out because other cloners had got there first ? The really unfortunate thing is that vapegeek don't have the Moander kayfun V4 listed on their site anymore , is there any reason for this that I haven't read anywhere ? It's a real pity as the vape I get from it is really good , it has transformed my ADV to a whole new level , that being on both my existing VTR or my newly acquired ( and first mech mod ) Kato box mod clone. I used the 0.8ohm coil that came with it and tried the wick that came in the box to start but that dried out and burnt through (may have had flow control closed). Any advice would be greafully received. I have found with this and all the other atty's I've used that , the gurgling is a wicking issue. I have found that the only way ( that I've found ) to get around this is to make sure the wick is tight in the coil. The best way I can think of descibing what is happening is there is a tiny gap between the wick and the coil and when it's heated there isn't direct contact between the coil and the wick , especially when the wick is soaked and worn in after a little while. This gap is ( this is only my guess anyway ) heating up the juice quicker and hotter than it would be if the wick was touching the coil ( thus getting more juice from the tank ) and it's causing it to pop. The reason that I think it's this is because when I have not touched the coil at all , other than to remove the wick and put another wick straight in , just a tighter fit , it seems to stop the spitting. There is also a fine balance to be had here though.if you have the wick to tight the wicking won't be able to keep up and you'll end up with dry hits , so it's something that needs experimentation. Hi Folks Thanks for all the help. I managed to get the chimney top thingie off in the end and replaced the gunked up wick. I managed it using the freezer method and followed grim greens video. . He has a very handy tip at 4 minutes in. Hopefully this will help you too Montanaas for gurgling. I do get some, especially when i have just filled up but i have found using a 3mm coil and not too much cotton seems to work ok.
