Nice idea till they find something else to charge you with - driving without due care and attention, not fully in control of your vehicle, driving with restricted view, wasting police time etc, etc, and that's before they go over the car to see if they can pick up any unsafe vehicle infringements I'd be happy to fight that in court....changing gear, adjusting the stereo & a few other things all make you take you hand off the steering wheel...plus theres still other people (who dont have kids in thier cars) smoking in their cars....would be the same as me vaping, I dont think the cps would bother taking it to court.....(I know my cars road worthy too) Yea you can fight any copper in court but if one wants you in a cell for a while you're going....just be a waste off your day.

I agree with it.
Then again, I don't know much these days, given the news today that plain packaging is supposed to save millions of lives a year, according to the 'spin' of modern Nanny government spokespersons. I don't understand this "theory".... maybe I bunked off school too often? ???
Shame about the even-more-toxic fake fags that are going to flood the market with immediate effect.
..or are Tobacco companies planning a Kanger style scratch-off code?
It's good, but it's also yet more thin end of the wedge.

Vaping next......... Yes, obviously. One American state has re-written the dictionary word "smoking". Now smoking includes the act of inhaling Vapour. You couldn't make it up. Rather than banning Vaping, they have re-classified smoking to include vaping. Clever stuff. Even I didn't see that one coming.

As @letsavit says, if they want you in a cell for a while ........ I know what you mean about one hand off the wheel and all that but you must have read about cases where people have been pulled for eating an apple or similar while driving, there have been a few like that in the papers over the years and while they all (obviously) got off scot free, its an unnecessary hassle. Don't forget what happened to Ripshod either when he was fogging it up in a car.

I'm divided to be honest...I do believe that as Raffles said you should be able to do what you want around your own family but as alway some are not responsible enough and need policing. Also it's not just parents, so Parents are ok, nans and grandads but not distance cousins and the scool bus driver..! they can't distinguish. Anyway if I personally disagree with law then I just ignore it and take the punishment if caught. What's this going be a £60 fine, can I go on my way now officer, bye see you next time, while muttering jobs worth under my breath.....

It's not the few hours in a cell that's disturbing, it's the fact you lose a piece of kit for a couple of weeks. Then you have to rely on them to look after it properly and return it intact.
By all means vape in front of them, but blowing clouds makes them think there's something else in your juice. Even worse if you look like someone they're interested in too.

I have been asked by two doormen "what's in that mate" no coppers, yet......

Before this descends into a cop bashing thread, just remember who brought the law in rather than focus on the ones that have to enforce it.

I got told by a do gooder a few months ago not to 'vape in the bus shelter as her friend got fined £35 a few weeks prior' - I'm like 'always vape in the bus shelter when waiting for a bus if it's not being rude' (then she proceeded to lecture the smoker outside the shelter her quit story) - still do it. Lost count of how many cop cars have gone past me (never mind coppers on foot) with my VTR in my hand vaping. Never a prob! Don't even have to whip out the SOS flapjack Some coppers do 'av 'em!

Should have seen it coming really - they've already put e-cigs in the tobacco directive after all eh
