Odd, three batteries (Torchy 2600 mahs) have decided this weekend is when they shuffle off the mortal coil. They seem to charge up to max on the Xtar charger, but when put in a mod, only have 50% capacity available. Oh well, they must be a year old, so they've done their duty. How long do you find batteries last in use?

Dunno about batteries for vaping, but i did a lot of R/C flying before illness stopped me being able, and we used Li-Poly batts.
It was good practice to swap these out at around a year, especially on an expensive model where it could be the difference between taking it home in a bin bag, or one piece.
So dependant on how much many cycles your batts have had they are quite probably just at the end of their lifespan.

What mod? maybe the contacts need a clean, but if they have been fully discharged every day for a year then they should be 70% of their capacity, have a look here about things that effect how long your batteries last.

Were they the only batteries you put in your charger - maybe it is the charger?

It was one of my dna40s. Put the same batteries in the other one and ... fully charged. Reinstalling one into the original dna40, and ... fully charged. Wonder if there's a loose connection issue.

Decided one of the dna40 chipsets is wonky, been doing some reading and there are reports of dna30s and 40s mis-reporting the battery. I've been watching this one for an hour and it has gone from 'weak battery' to showing half full... unused. Then take a couple of toots, and weak battery again. Pop the battery into the other dna40... almost full. I've been into it and replaced one of the wires to the atty, and touched up the soldering on all the other connections which are fine. It works perfectly otherwise. Say la vee. Edit : like your own posts? Whaa? (accident of course) Re-edit : it's now showing full battery. The thing is messing with my mind!

It's worth getting a Multi meter to check Batteries. Start from around £10 and I'd say an essential bit of kit for Mechs and MODs that use re-chargeabe High Drain Batteries. You can use them to check ohms on your builds too, as well as numerous Domestic electrical checks!

If the battery is knackered it will do those things davetherayon as it uses the battery sag to decide what to display on the bar and when to reject the battery, but not sure how long it remembers it as it proper goes to sleep. Your battery life will always look worse at higher wattages and it is more protective of the batteries than most mods in not letting you get to vary low voltages under load. Still check connections as the ProVari3 has been showing low battery with just dirty connections and the new IQ system. These features are safety features.

The DNA40 battery indicator is not a remaining charge indicator, it's an estimation Of battery life dependant on power settings versus the monitored strength of the battery. So what it shows when first fitting a freshly charged battery will generally change rapidly as it used And the chip gets to monitor your setting versus how the battery is performing.

I've replaced the battery box with one higher quality that I had around, it's currently sitting in place G-clamped in while the araldite cures. Initial tests were encouraging though, two separate batteries showed up full charge.

My first two Torchy blue 18650s are only now giving up after two solid years of heavy use. I think they're around 16 or 1800mAh, so done not badly at all. As far as replacement goes, I'm not too sure about risking no-names, so think I'll go back to Torchy (if he's still there).
