I've owned an Aqua/Origin (clone) double act for a while and whilst I use the Origin mech mod frequently I could never get the Aqua to perform properly and the problem is airflow. This is a twin coil device that utilises a Stainless Steel chimney and a Stainless Steel tank, it has one pair of air holes on one side of the body and air flow is controlled by screwing the tank up and down to expose more/less of the holes. The main issue with this device is that the airflow holes only connect to one coil, vaping the device 'as is' leads to constant dry hits and the thing becomes so hot it's a hand warmer.
This video shows how to modify the Aqua for better airflow
The most important modification is enlarging the two grooves in the Delrin insulator that fits in the bottom of the device, what the video does not make clear (there is no commentary) is that these two grooves need to join each other thus providing airflow to both coils, the guy in the video creates a chamfer around the top of the insert which does the job but it's something I missed first time around, what I did yesterday was to create a trench across the top of the insert thus connecting the two grooves. I haven't drilled out any of the metal parts mainly because I don't own any cobalt drill bits that small. I rebuilt the device with two .23 x 8 wrap coils and cotton wool wicks, the device measured out at 1.5 ohms with this build. What a difference, it's a veritable cloud monster with no overheating problems. I'm impressed at the improvement that such a simple fix has created, I really like this device and it looks the dogs BLX on the Origin especially in hybrid mode.
So for anyone with an Aqua clone discarded in a box somewhere, dig it out and sort the airflow problem out, it's a five minute job that will bring this device back to life.

I picked up an aqua clone recently and has been performing pretty much flawlessly after I got my head round how it works and getting it coiled and wicked well. I didn't do any research before setting up for first time and thought it would be straight forward but I had juice pissing everywhere at first. Now I love the hit I get off it on a mech at around .8 ohms.
I didn't know the airflow only hits one of the coils... I never get any dry hits though.
Haven't looked at the vid yet but will have a look when I get home
