From their perspective it's all in the headline, that's the message the general public will read and remember. Quite devious but no doubt effective. Exactly, they spout carp, the media lap it up & then we get flak from those that then read/watch it but won't listen to us that are actually doing it & are much healthier for it.

They receive substantial funding from the Big Pharma's and the top echelon pay themselves very large salaries, I wouldn't wonder. So it's in their interests to be negative to something which actually can be seen to work in tobacco cessation, unlike the pharma's patches etc. which have a poor success rate. Nuff Said!!!!Quite right this link has a breakdown of who funds WHO (see what I did there!) But you don't have to go much further than this When former Norwegian politician Gro Harlem Brundtland took over as the Director-General of WHO in Jan. l998, she immediately made tobacco control a global priority for the organization. Obviously she was aware of its PR and financial potential. She formed WHO's Tobacco Free Project and began to close ranks with the pharmaceutical corporations, the World Bank, and the big private non-profits.
Nine months later she announced that she was confident WHO could secure proper funding for its global anti-smoking campaign. "With regard to tobacco, I am confident that it will be possible to mobilize millions of dollars,"("WHO pinpoints smoking as huge global health threat," Christopher Follett, Reuters, 9/17/98).
And she was quite right. In return for making smoking cessation the theme of WHO's l999 World No-Tobacco Day, the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Associations and the World Self-Medication Industry provided the financial support and help with public relations for the event.

Previous poster hit right on the nail on what I was going to say.
These people are failed politicians, who cannot give a toss about people, cannot give straight awnsers, and are only in it to further gain money and unbelievebly a reputation. Find me a politician doing the right thing for us otherwise this might be first time i've never voted, because the choices at moment are not getting my vote.

And it's not just the fail readers that believe the headlines but virtually every medic in every health service (virtually - there are a few sane ones LOL). Only yesterday I was told by my dentist that e-cigs were more dangerous and more addictive than tobacco and I 'didn't know what was in them' Note to dentist and any other of my medics I've been vaping 3.5 years. In that time I've had no chest infections (I was getting one every 2-4 months at least!). My skin is better. My teeth are better. I cough a little from PG irritation or when I've had a lung hit. (tis a vaping term for inhaling the vapor down to your lungs - generally I don't do this. Not saying it's bad. It just makes me cough a little.). I used to hack like I was about to keel over when I smoked. It's non comparable. Also I tried your (medics again) note NRT. After 20 hours or less you (medics) were all telling me to get back on the stinkies because my mind was putting me at risk (and that would cost you even more if I didn't at that point) I've had nic OD's from playing with kit. I did my research (back in the day). I learnt that nicotine half life is 2 hours and if it's going to kill you it'll do it within 4. No point in going to A+E then. I didn't bother! You were anti e-cigs then only making less media space. I took the freedom of choice. Reduced Nicotine for 4 hours but then went back to my e-cig And now you medics tell me that when in acute distress I can't vape in your hospital anymore. Well I hope I never have a neurological conditin then (psychosis is bad enough personally) cos I'll vape anyway. Herein my ranteth endeth

Trouble is who (no pun intended) do you believe. My case at present, I suffer with Meniueres disease that bugggers your ears, exactly 1 year ago went to GP because ears playing up and flying next day, usual awnser as you have meniueres you cannot have them syringed but be fine flying, flight out like hell and had to get early flight home because of pain and bleeding. This year exact same (but no flight), oh i'll have to syringe ears, you cant I have Meniueres, no reason not to syringe them, so it was done, been in ear trouble for 6 days since and reading on net last thing I should have allowed was syringing, other treatments available that i've never been told about, go to GP with problem, no rather go to local witch doctor more reliable. My rant over
