I've very recently acquired an iStick 20 with which I'm very satisfied. Although I can use it while it's on charge, it's not always convenient! The 2.2Ah charge last me about a day vaping at 8W and the digital information given is quite accurate. I understand it's mean time to failure is not good, after all it is a "cheapo". My dilemma is; do I get another the same or do I up grade? 20W is more than enough for me, so is there another of similar size and capacity? All advice and recommendations will be gratefully received.
Jim

I know what you mean about 20w being enough but the advantage to the istick 30w is its stainless steel threads and floating pin <this means it'll sit every tank on successfully and you probably wont strip the threads.
On the other hand its still a built in battery so will probably only last you a year. The decision to have removable batteries will incur additional costs for a charger and separate batteries but will extend your mod life massively... dilemma indeed!

Indeed Pepperty , I take your point! The iStick 20 has a floating contact and coming from a mechanical engineering back ground I tend not to have problems with cross threading. I like the size of the 20, won't one with a 18650 be considerably larger? Though to be fair changeable batteries is a big consideration. Hell, at a £ per month, the iStick can be considered disposable! Jim

jevans, Jim at the top of the rear of the instruction sheet on my iStick is says "One can take puffs while it is being charged". As Pepperty said the 30 W connector is a lot better, I don't easily damage threads, but they damage easily it the atty takes a knock especially if you drop the whole thing. Plus the 30 W has a smoother output and more accurate wattage calibration. If you are confident to take one apart and reassemble you can get 18650 batteries with solder tags that should make good replacements for the 18650 Lipo.

Please don't get another 20w. I bought another one (for back up) and as far as I'm concerned, I wasted £28 or what ever it was. The larger models are the way to go. The 20w are just so hit and miss with the threads and centre pin. I've been lucky.. but I'm nearly always lucky (if we forget buying two Evics... and E-Lites, oh and a broken Vivi Nova Clone that killed my Riva battery, and I ran over a Spinner once too!) I always win big at raffles - facial treatments, leg waxing, spa days, vegetarian hampers... you name it.

18650 isn't much bigger at all, as a comparison (I'm not suggesting you buy one) here is a photo of mine next to my Cloupor mini (with the cover off showing the 18650)

If you read my thread allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/50487/istick-6-weeks-use?page=2&scrollTo=881501I love the istick 20, second one arrived today (the £12 offer could not resist), but i'm waiting for it to fail and it's losing battery life a bit iconsistantly now, I cannot comment on other models as yet to own one and been bit busy to read reviews. I'm out for a long day Thursday, and although the istick main weapon of choice the 18 month old MVP2 going to get slung in car just in case. MP

My iStick 30W arrived this morning. Angie has given up on her 20W because of constant burning wicks. She tried it and said "It's smoother. Much better." I was about to say "Smoother my arse. It just that it can use lower voltage." Now I'll just tell her what a perceptive discerning vaper she is. Wonder if I'll ever get to use it

If memory serves me right the Istick 20w are well know for being inaccurate in the Watt/Volts range and if you normally vape at say 8.5ohm with the 20w stick you may need to drop down to 6.0/6.5ohms, I got a couple of the FT Earl clones two weeks ago and honestly can't fault them yet! but I have had to drop from my normal 8.5 ohm down to 6.5/7.0 ohms, the odd thing is although it's a clone it seem better made than my mates original, though i'm pretty sure they are coming out of the same factory, his buttons rattle mine don't and my atties seem to fit better on mine,,
