Got a problem with one of my Riva batteries, the centre pin keeps sinking down to the point where it doesn't contact he carto.
I've levered it gently back up, and screwed the carto back on, and it makes contact again, but the slightest jiggle and it sinks again, screw it down a bit, works, then stops and so on. Same problem on the charger - it will contat for a bit, then looks as though charged but it is just the pin that has sunk down.
Having spent most of the afternoon faffing, I've decided it needs help. Any ideas how to fix it permanently or what the cause might be (e.g. juice in the gubbins lubricating the pin?).

Thanks for the links - the C9 one is useful with the pictures. Unfortunately, I've already lifted it several times, and it just sinks straight back down

domestic you from other threads you seem quite a technically able bloke....Liberty Flights are gettingego batt connectors in mid to late feb, theyre £1.80 .
its a bit tricky to get solder iron in there tbh but if u can then its just 1 fragile wire from the pcb to pin, desolder and solder new one in and viola like new.

Thanks for that kingofswords - I'll bear it in mind. Just to summarise, it is definitely the battery, and not a cleanliness issue. I can lever the pin up but it doesn't want to stay up (ooer), as soon as a carto is screwed in, it slides back down again . I'm letting it rest for a bit, in case any juice has got inside the gubbins and is lubricating it, so that there is no grip plus, I'm fed up of faffing with it for now. I have a spare spare, so it's no biggie. I've farmed the problem out to my subconcious, which I expect will be along with some possible solutions presently

If nothing works, I would just put a drop of solder in the center post...Nothing to lose really

Can you wedge a little piece of something underneath it ? little ball of kitchen roll or something. Would it need to be non conductive ? prob a terrible suggestion but I've no clue how they work lol

Can you lever it up then put some superglue round it? I presume it will still have some connectivity somewhere.

I don't know if you have tried this already, but you could try a 510 - 510 connector; sometimes does the trick with dodgy connections.

you'd think somebody would make an adapter you could screw in to extend the connection wouldnt you....can imagine its that comlicated. Or simply have a threaded pin so that it could be adjusted up and down. IIRC the GLV mini has a screw on the back for this purpose.

Anyhoo - we're stuck with what we have. Thanks for all the suggestions - I'm thinking a few blobs of strategically placed solder might be the best bet. I'm not great with superglue - usually I glue everything except the critical part but before all that I need to dig out the multimeter and check that I haven't knackered the circuit...

Well, I was fiddling around with this battery again and realised that there was no output even with the centre pin sunken. Attached an old carto and wiggled off the switch to find that the centre pin wire was detached. Whilst very educational to see the innards, it means I now have to dig out my soldering iron for sure and try and effect a repair...
