So Lumen seems to be carrying a bit of extra weight in her tummy, yet the rest of her is a bit slender. She doesn't like being picked up in several ways and well has what can be described as a bit of a beer belly. She's about 6 months old but neither we nor the vet could put a definitive age on her. What are the chances of her being pregnant?

Hi Sam, been a long long time since we had a cat that was pregnant (was when I was a kid) but from what I remember, she started looking for a place to sort of nest, and started checking out areas to hide, places she wouldn't normally bother with.. I think often they shred paper too, sure this isnt really much help and there will be folk along with much more knowledge and experience etc..
Good luck with everything though, I do remember how awesome it was when she had kittens:) we kept most of them really in that they went to family members so they all stayed in the same family so to speak..

Hmm she's not doing that which is a good sign. It's a lot to take on after a week of getting her lol.

Was this there when you got her and has she been eating more than normal ? I know that's hard to judge when you only had her a week lol
Has she and Frankie both been neutered ?
I have a relatively young cat atm too, just coming up to 8 months old, and a male. He's a skinny little thing but eats like he's never gonna get fed again lol so has developed a little bit of a rounder belly. Hopefully once he builds the rest of his body mass up a little and loses his kitten shape he will fill out nicely.

6 months old does seem a little young but it is possible. so signs to look for include Swollen nipples that become pinker and softer An increased appetite Weight gain and enlarging of tummy Showing more affection than usual Vomitting, cats sometimes get morning sickness

Or give Cat a pm, she said in another thread that she helps rescue cats so she may have a few handy tips to use.

She can't stop eating but that that be due to upbringing ie she not knowing when her next meal is coming from etc. I don't remember the pot belly but she is awfully affectionate but again that could be because she is finally settling down.

Sam, has she been wormed? lets get the obvious out of the way first. 6 months is possible, check her nipples as Gordy says. She wont start nesting yet, mine started to do that about 2 weeks before she gave birth. If she is pregnant can i have her please only joking Its the most amazing experience to see and such a joy watching the kittens grow, i loved every bit of it xx

She hasn't been dewormed yet that I know of. We've only had her a week. She has pronounced nipples which are a little pink
