Right I have made a cheap mod box and i'm using an 18650 battery now does anyone know if it is possible to add a usb lead to charge it and/or use it as a passthrough without taking the battery out, reason being the box has four tiny screws and I dont want to keep having to take them out each time i need to charge the batt). Can i use a 5volt from usb to charge the battery possibly with a 3.5mm jack plug on the box end that i could plug into a hub? If anyone knows the answer I would be grateful, and Where would i place connections according to the current wiring. This is just an exercise on my part but would like to give it a go. Also using the 18650 battery I think the fully charge v is 4.2 can I use st cartos and lr cartos on it? Thanks for the help in advance

You might find this interesting - ebay. I use these for mods but I change the full size USB to a mini USB connection but that requires a fair bit of delicate work. With the full size USB you just need a USB extension cable like this one so you don't have to have the connector sticking out. Careful when buying though as you don't want the usb cable to have a moulded end otherwise you would need a very large hole in the box to allow the connection. The circuit just needs to be wired to the battery connections then it can be used to charge the battery even when you are using the mod (as long as the battery charge doesn't drop too low).

I like this idea how would it wire in to what i have made The circuit board has a positive and negative solder holes on it. You just need to run wires across from them to the positive and negative battery connectors while still having the existing wires running to the mod as is. That's it, that means the charge circuit charging the battery while at the same time the battery still feeds to the button for you to vape with, nothing special needed at all. The circuit has overcharge protection just wire it the right way round and it just works. It also has an led which you might want to have a hole for so you can see it outside the box. Red led on means charging, off means full or no battery connected. Whenever you want to charge you can then just plug in the USB and continue vaping much like a passthrough (although not 5V, just standard battery voltage since its still the battery running the device).

as Verey said you'll need a circuit like the one he's linked to... alternatively you could replace the screws with strong magnets to make getting to the battery easier
another idea you could have a go at is recessing the tank into the box as there seems enough room for it

thanks gordy an veryb. have ordered a couple of the usb connectors seems to be the easiest way. Re: recessing the tank will be a no no as I like to make sure of no juice leaking seeing as i knocked it up a bit quick I dont trust my handywork that much yet lol
