People's thoughts and invaluable knowledge they share in a forum is preserved and available for others to benefit from and it's a more organised way of exchanging ideas.

A chat room is great for banter but it will also be chaotic when too many (ie., more than 15) people are in a chat and it will kill the forum. I have seen it happen. My two cents.

des(and anyone else for that matter) why dont you come over to ukv chat(links at top of page) tonystix and kam from vaporhut are usually in there aswell asa few other famailars like rusty....oh and me.
i found aaec and ukv chat invaluable when i first started...the chat is great for real time advise.

I do frequent UKV occasionally but find all the sniping a bit too much. If you frequent UKV it will happen to you if you post, it is inevitable unfortunately

I have only done chat in ECF PIF chat room. I will go there on occasion, but I prefer a chat thread.

Agrees with Macca, I've seen that happen as well

Also agree with Des, in fact we have been affected in the past due to some drunken chat room sniping/goading from another forum spilling over to "have a laugh" at one of our members posts Luckily, one of our moderators was up late & on hand to delete the offensive posts.
