At least, I think that's what I mean..
I have a friend (really) who has some disabilities, including neuropathy in her hands, that make typing difficult.
Can anyone recommend a good voice recognition thing that might make life easier for her?
Value for money would be good...

If I remember correctly, "Dragon Naturally Speaking" is ok, I used to use it for large documents at work. It can be pricey but usually you can get a fairly recent copy from eBay. After training it with your voice and regularly used words it is ok.
Hope that helps

Windows 7 has it built in. I think it was originally featured in Vista, can't speak for Win8/8.1 (that's vfm if it would work for her) Control Panel\Ease of Access\Speech Recognition Nothing wrong with Mrsmac's suggestion either. It's good for dictating but I'm not sure if it would interface directly with windows (for control and such). Good to have alternatives

I used the speech recognition included in Windows 7. You need to buy a microphone (I think?), so I got a "call centre" headset. It worked, I can confirm, and even dictated letters quite well.

dragon is about the only one i know of thats good but make sure you use a decent mic/headset as that makes a diff as to how well it works, sennheiser can be had for around £30 and are well worth it zz
