Managed these first time with the help of a pair of fishinh forceps and a Parker pen. .32 Kanthal twisted, 3mm diameter about 5-6 wraps... Love the bending the leg method that I saw Tom use in his goblin guide for cantering the coil... Thanks to you guys and boom juice for the motivation!

@scooby in the future when these babies are gone if I want to make a coil like the one I have in as I'v never tasted anything like this it's just unbelievable the change in taste, I have a coil jig on order one of the coil maker things that makes them nice and neat ,obviously I'd use the 2.5 one for the diameter and I do use the right kanthal how would I get it nice and spaced like the one I have in now can you set the jigs so that the coil is nicely spaced

Gonna have to try me some twisted Kanthal... How do you work the ohms out with twisted and what does twisted change to the vape? More flavour/clouds? I found this video for anyone without a drill like me... I have a whale for doing my dogs claws it's like a dermal I wonder if I can do it on that ,I'll have to look though looking at yours above it seems the pen works fantastic as yours look great

Used a different pen this morning and pliers and the twists seemed to come out looser, back to the Parker and fishing forceps and they came out tighter before it snapped at the pen end... Weird... Yeah the bend in the leg is for a nice centred coil. All credit to tom Here are the ones I tried this morning... All with 0.32 Kanthal... Gonna have a go with some 0.28 and 0.4...

What a fascinating thread. Never used twisted coils, so I am looking forward to having a play.

It's been a couple of years since I messed with twisted kanthal. I'm a lazy git, I just get a piece of wire, make a loop and stick a coat hanger on the bottom and spin it round.

Your enthusiasm know no bounds @yavape and it seems it contagious. The Kuro jig makes very neat contact coils, to space them just slid the coil off when you've made it then slide it back on and straighten everything up. Then carefully spread the coils, you can pull both ends like an accordion and/or do them individually with pointed tweezers, your fingernails or tooth picks. I make mine spaced by hand on a drill bit in Greigster coil buddy, squeezing the coils together a few times evens up the spacings. I understand the pancake wick now, and the theory as to why spaced coils work better with thick juice, thanks Edit: Just re read your posts @yavape you mention a wind proof lighter, is that to temper the kanthal so it has less spring? if so you don't need to do that when using the kuro koiler. But I doubt it would get the coil hot enough, it needs to be glowing at least a dull orange. Gas hobs work.

A good quality lighter will do the job, but as it takes so long you usually end up with burnt fingers. Fasttech do some good blowtorches, very reasonably priced.

I cant see why manufacturers don't stagger the airflow holes on RBA decks so that the coils don't have to have a bent leg to centre the coil.

I've had 3 torches I use in the kitchen that I put into service on kanthal but all have eventually become unsafe, flames coming out of everywhere or just leaked gas and were empty when I came to use them. Gas refills cost an absolute fortune also. So I got a good quality lighter that I put to good use in the kitchen, on plumbing and kanthal
