Hi as you know I'v started making my own coils and I posted about twisted kanthal as I wondered what difference it's makes. @scooby very kindly offered to make me some so I could try , he ven made them and posted them in one day ( free of charge ) these coils are beauties I could quite happily just look at them and it seems a shame to ruin them but that's what there meant for so iv put one in my sub mini rba a spaced one at around 1.0 ohm ( my mods a bit out ) twisted kanthal as I thought I'd try the touching one's on my less heavy vg juice. Well I have to say totally honest here I'm now a twisted kanthal lover ,what a lovely smooth tasty vape I put my favourite juice in and it doing it proud ( peanut butter slap ) it's amazing I'll never use a stock head again ha ha I love the deck thank you @scooby for taking the time to do this so very kind of you I'm so chuffed and setting my fire alarm off

Gonna have to try me some twisted Kanthal... How do you work the ohms out with twisted and what does twisted change to the vape? More flavour/clouds? I found this video for anyone without a drill like me...

This calculator does twisted, set the ohms, coil diameter and watts you want first then vary the wire thickness so the heat flux icon is green or near green.

Those calculators totally confuse me but I'll get there it tuck me a while to make sense of the mixing one Just use it to get you roughly there, they are not 100% accurate anyway. You likely know the diameter of coil and the watts you want to vape at so you put those in and adjust the wire thickness and the ohms until the little heat flux icon is green, or at least not red or blue. In this link I have it set for a 2.5 mm diameter coil, target ohms of 1 to vape at 20 W and it tells me 6 wraps of twisted 0.25 mm is good. If I change the ohms I want to 0.5 link the icon goes red and the wire would get to hot, so to fix that I would need to chose a thicker wire: 0.32 mm to get the icon green again link. If I go back to the first one and changed the wire size to 0.32 mm (keeping the ohm at 1) link it would bee too cool (blue icon). If you are using a regulated device the ohms don't matter as much as any of the other settings as long as you device can work at that level.

Glad you're a happy vaper @yavape which one did you use first and will the bigger dia ones fit? VapingBad has summed up how to work out a coil that will suit your setup. As I wasn't familiar with the subtank or your device I used 3 different wire gauges. It'll be interesting to see which you like best as they all have a different heat flux, you know all about that now don't you As I twist mine quite tight I use a loupe and measure the twist pitch and enter that in the box under material/profile. The more you twist the shorter the wire gets, it can make a difference to wraps required. Nothing that can't be sorted with a little trial and error but as it's there I've got into a habit of using it.

I went for the 0.25 mm 2.0mm as that fits nice on the little blue screw driver ,I'll pick a drill bit up next week, I vape at 18 to 20 watts so I think I picked a good un because I love it can not wait to try the rest , but it will probably take some time cos these babies are not coming out till there well and proper dead , but every time I try another I will let you know, I'm over the moon with them thank you so much

That coil is a 2mm dia version of this one that VapingBad linked to so your in the green @yavape There is also a 2.5mm dia one and maybe I did a contact coil in 0.25mm as well, I cant remember Expect 0.28mm and 0.30mm ones to give a cooler vape.

Yes you did do a contact one as well, I do like my vape cool so it will be interesting to see because with the coils iv made up to now I enjoy the 28awg 1.2ohm the best , the first was 26awg 0.6 ohm the second 28awg 0.8 but I did like that one as well , I found the 0.6 a little harsh and warm

@scooby I thought I'd try another , I cleaned the one in there and have put it back for another day, I was just excited to try another ,Iv tried 2.5 mm diameter 2.5 mm wow amazing spot on I'm having to take little pulls because the fire alarm is going crazy and the taste in the bigger is brilliant as well ,I like these bigger ones easier to wick for me at the moment and because I use heavy vg juice its spot on,I'v done the pancake wick as it works better for me on these thick juices. The juice I have in I was told is very mild and better on a dripper not the case here it lovely

That's Great @yavape i would have felt bad if you hated them.
Good you noticed the difference between the coil Diameters.
You'll have to tell me what a pancake wick is?

If you put RIP trippers pancake wick on YouTube there's a video you cut the tails a lot shorter and then fluff them up like a pancake so they don't touch the sides,I im finding it great with the heavy vg
