Wasn't happy with the flavour from my lemo drop, decided to change the coil and wick. Stripped it diwn and found this. Without question that is starting to rust badly. Not too clever for vaping purposes. Anyone else experienced this ?

Never had that happen with mine, even left one sat on a window sill full of juice for over two weeks before that i forgot about, juice was a thick brown mess when i eventually went to clean it but no rust on the atty anywhere.

I thought the Lemos were stainless steel, which shouldn't rust. So unless it's an inferior clone with dodgy steel, I'd say it's a burnt residue from the last e-liquid you vaped.

One of my kayfuns seems to rust a little around the airflow adjustment screw, I clean it, re wick etc and use, we drink iron in our water everyday...!
But thats a lot mate and certainly has the colour of rust, what colour was your juice.

You shouldn't if it been treated properly and re passivated. That looks like poor machining practice and the metal has got too hot.

I would take it apart, wet let dry and repeat to see what parts rusting, hopefully a screw you can replace. From the pic it looks like the postive screw, looks more iron but that might just be the light.

Yes it could be that, contamination from the machine tool in production. Remove it with fine wet & dry and make sure it's completely dry, then leave it open for a few days. Exposure to oxygen in the air will go some way to passivate the surface and make it much more resistant to corrosion. I've used this method to good effect on 316L brewing equipment that developed small spots of corrosion.

Thanks @scooby, will give it a try. If it turns out the same again then it'll be heading for the long grass.

I know I should just Google 'passivate', but you guys will provide a much more informative and entertaining answer! Anyone?

Passivate is to allow the top surface of the metal to oxidise and form a chromium oxide layer. This can be achieved by using acid, or by leaving it dry for a few days.

I have 2 standard lemos, one was "guenuine" from fasttech and the other was from myepack. They are not the same. The filling screw on the fasttech one is starting to rust, it is also magnetic (which makes it a lot easier to use btw). The myepack lemo has a few differences and there is no sign of rust anywhere. The filling screw isn't magnetic which is a pita when trying to replace it after filling, but there is no sign of rust.
If it is the screw that is causing your problem then you could use the plastic thingamygig?

Genesis atty's and me don't have a happy relationship PinkyPuff, that's why I don't have any. Tried them and just couldn't get to grips with them. Back on the Kayfuns and happily tooting away.
