I just did a calculation (okay about 12.30am but then I couldn't sleep )...and like I worked out the cost of basic mixing your own and cartos is about £5 a week on my reduction plan (should be down to 14mg/ml by june. Started at 36mg/ml in september. Started reducing in November)... Still to add other factors like dilution stuff etc but still should be less than £10 a week ...... Now compare that to still smoking = £7 a day and you see the savings ...and I wouldn't have quit without the the e-cig - like zero chance... (and I was a heavy baccy smoker. Seriously like £7 was one pouch of baccy a day - 25g. Hence I started at 36mg/ml).... Currently I'm on 26mg/ml and reducing by 2mg/ml every 3 weeks (suits me fine - why change?) or 100ml of e-liquid (self mixed).... Obviously costs were higher to begin with though I reckon if I'd bought a riva I'd have saved myself a wee fortune.... And newbies please DON'T worry about the costs and how much you are vaping to begin with - it does taper off.....your health is more important.... Either way just proves you'll probably likely to spend no more than double what you'd spend on cigs initially for the first wee while. If not considerably less if you do your research. So it is cost effective

It works out I'm spending somewhere between a quarter and a third of what I was spending on tobacco over the whole period of four months or so, and of course the time saved by not wheezing and coughing. I can mostly avoid expensive toys (seriously tempted by the LT, but that will have to wait). If you're determined to cut out costs you can save a bundle and still get decent kit.

Not much savings in money.
But I think I have saved pretty much what was left of my lungs (also the lungs of the ones around me) And that is the most important thing

I can mostly avoid expensive toys (seriously tempted by the LT, but that will have to wait). If you're determined to cut out costs you can save a bundle and still get decent kit. Exactly my point.... When I started vaping everyone was ranting and raving about provaris....Of course I couldn't justify one. Or an e-cig that cost about £80 or something? I got what I could afford. I got the first VV I could find (cos the LT at that point was just a vapour in the dream world) and it didn't last so I got it fixed and sold it. I got what I found reliable and cheap.... As I found my niche I went onto 18650 batteries and got an e-power from wizard (out of stock right now though available from LF)...and then I discovered tanks LOL....that deserves a thread in itself. Me and tanks :rotfl:....Home made ones (first HM one resulted in 5ml of juice all over my hands I never washed off. NOT recommended), the Lil Mama tank (I kept nicking the o-rings - took me ages to realise that it was leaking faster than burst water main) and then the chibis (more home made expense whist I waited for them to come) which are really cheap and serving me well. Of course the chibis....LOL...another journey.... But min costs for me are less than £10 a week. Max costs - how long is a piece of string... Hence the point of this thread

Just posting to show what I've saved as an ex 40+ a day smoker although my stats are based on just 40 a day so probably saved more than this.
I did have a spreadsheet on what I'd spent as well but haven't kept that up and can't be bothered trawling through past order confirmations to check but it is no way anywhere near what I've saved
So financially I'm well up on the deal although as with many others, that money saved does seem to have diverted off into other avenues of spending as well so the bank balance doesn't seem to be improving much!
