i got a echo usb yesterday and charged my ego on it...... i charged it via laptop hub and it got quite warm but put that down to it being a fast charge. so i plugged it into the mains to leave overnight, and thank god i was being paranoid as i checked it 10mins later and it was boiling so i took it off and threw it to other side of room lol. anyway it flashed 4 times(maybe 3) and i checked it later on and no working. so i opened it up and the switch was burnt brown. now ive tested the switch it just flashes when connected but doesnt stay on when depressed. anyone know if its a bad idea to us echo charger or what the specs of the echo charger is? thx :

It should say on the charger what the output current and voltage is.

No label = not good. I wouldn't trust it myself.

Both chargers I have are clearly marked. What I don't understand is why you didn't get a pukka charger from a trusted supplier. They are only about a fiver, less than the cost of a battery, and if it starts frying stuff, you have some recourse. Edit to add: I'm not meaning to sound hypercritical with that comment, just that's how I'd rationalise it to myself. It turns out that there are some 'fast' ego chargers around, which cannot be used with 'regular' (presumably 650mAh) batteries. Maybe you have one of those.

Edit to add: I'm not meaning to sound hypercritical with that comment, just that's how I'd rationalise it to myself. nah i didnt read it as that i was quite happy with my mini510s(ironically killed one of those other day too lol) tbh but somebody offer me a dead ego so out of curiosity fondness of recycling took it and fixed it up a couple of weeks ago.(plus i studied electronics in college). also was interested in what the big who-hah was with them was and fancied trying Lr and i must say everybody was right i loved it so was using it in the evening when i fancied s'thing a bit stronger. was charging on a 510 charger(which took 11hrs lol) as i only used it an hour or 2 in the evening when i wanted s'thing stronger so wasnt an issue but got offered the charger for a couple of quid so took it it and assumed it was normal ego charger without thinking bout it took it for convenience incase i ever got caught short. anyway tried it on my usb hub on lappy yesterday and when battery got hot presumed thats how fast chargers were...so went to leave charging over night and only through paranoia checked it and it felt like a boiled kettle. in thinking about it , it couldve been my shody soldering that caused it. im glad it didnt explode. i was really miffed last night bit warlord put a smile back on my face today i suppoe i can put it down to a learning curve.
