Hi Yes another Newbie Q I have some batteries and a charger waiting for the slow boat from China to deliver the mods i will be using them in. I understand the batteries arrive circa 40% charged, is it best to charge up to a full charge before use or use till close to discharged prior to recharging? many thanks in advance

I would suggest charging before hand, then test the voltage, just to be safe

Not necessary, but you won't get much vape time with them at 40%, they are not like NiCads that have a memory effect or use trickle charge to get top full capacity, with Li batteries it is important the charger does not trickle charge. No special treatment needed, they do have a sort of break-in period, but nothing to worry about I would just charge them when they arrive and start using them as normal.

talking about charging think my i2 is giving up ghost what charger would you recomend VapingBad charge 4 batts at a time Xtar or Nitecore chargers in general, but what batteries do you have? EG I have a lot of VTC4s & 25Rs that I charge a 2 A, I have 2 x 2 bay 2 A Xtar SP2 chargers I got from torchy for £15 each delivered but don't know if he still has them. Both batteries are rated at 4 A fast charge rate and it is important not to go over the spec, they shouldn't get too hot while charging. You would have to check a lot of 4 bay chargers only have 2 channels so when charging 4 batteries the max rate is halved, so 2 x 2 bay 1 A chargers may serve you better. If you have batteries smaller than 18650 make sure which ever charger has a low enough rate for them. I also have an AWT charger that is OK and has a couple of extra functions like capacity test (can get a bit hot for my liking) and internal resistance test (for a rough guide), although FT do a cheap battery analyser that is better for both under £20. Sorry I can not be more specific, but not bought a charger for quite a while now. Some reviews here from an honest guy who knows his stuff, but I followed one of his recommendations for an EFest charger and got a lemon and put this down to most of the kit being supplied free for review and EFest testing the one they sent first.

Cheers all,
another stupid Q alert.. i have 2 x of each size battery i can use in my mods (when they arrive) and a i2 charger, is it stoopid to charge 2 different sized batteries at the same time? each charger bay has its own charge indicator?

I don't have one, but it should say in the instructions, a lot of people here have them and should be able to tell you. There are at least 3 versions of this charger according to lygte: 2014, V2 & V1 (seems the old reviews have been taken down or links broken)

Charging mixed sizes is fine on the i2. The two bays are on independent channels and monitor voltage separately.
