Loved this mech mod when I saw it. I liked the wood and inlaid delrin bits. Can I afford 1?, probably not. Could I make 1?, probably not but lets av a go. Along the way I have decided to make it a dual 18650 with a mosfet using the ubiquitous hana ball button so wont be a full mech. Having most of the stuff needed I have started the build & so the NYXIS is born. Waiting on a fatdady 510 so i can finalize the insides and finish the gluing & do a sh!t load of sanding to thin the panels down.

nice start, hope the sanding down doesn't bore u too much.. out of interest where do u source the 510 fittings, buttons, vv/vw control boards etc from, i doubt i will bother building myself but its the sort of thing i would enjoy browsing in the wee hours...

I really hate sanding too, luckily I have a mega rough linisher belt that im using on a steel block and is good for the general roughing down and dosent take to long. What Im not to sure about is how to polish out the scratches in the nylon bits. Amongst a few others modmaker.co.uk is a good source of parts and information/inspiration.

As with most of my projects I seem to make them up/change plans as I go along. Now considering poping a smart 20w board in it. If it fits Ill run it as marked with oak buttons and an inlaid smoked perspex screen. Will need to await delivery of said board before comiting.

Change of plan, Back to plan B Dual parallel mech. Bottom brass contact, solid wired to 510 . Top contact and 510 pos assembly. Fitted to the case. With the batterys installed. Nifty bit, the switch is the battery door. Brass contact on door makes the loop and theres enough pull on the top magnet to keep it in the off position. There she blows. Just got to glue it all back together then finish it off with some wax.
