If I leave it recording while I'm asleep (it's on my bed where my pussycat (Sushi RIP) used to sleep) I lower the lid until the screen goes dark but leave it open 2-3 inches, for the sake of not building up heat. Somehow the other night the lid got closed, but next day although the keyboard was very hot there were no other side-effects

I've rebooted once since 24 Feb, and that was because I thought I oughta, no other reason.

The only niggle is that I don't like not understanding how a dodgy wifi driver would not cause any problems for hours and then suddenly crash the system, but I expect it's beyond my tiny mind

It must be boring for you, Macca, but thank you yet again!

Dave check out ebuyer . I bought a barebones pc with no OS yesterday for 189 quid intel dual core 3.2ghz 8gig ram and more. Fortunately I have a genuine OS that I can install . So no extra costs for me on that score
