Hi Ripshod I would like you're opinion on this new range of batteries from Torchy on Ebay ShockliUntil he gets back from work: They seem OKish from the Lygte reviews except the 2400 mAh, but the currents are not quoted accurately again. Shockli 18650 2500mAh (Cyan) Lygte: It looks like Shockli got a very powerful battery here with good capacity. Me: the PDC & CDC seem too close and by the graph these seem like 20 A to me Continuous discharge current: 30A Pulse discharge current: 35A The 25R outperforms it Shockli 18650 2400mAh (Cyan) Lygte: These cells are acceptable, but they do not live up to the 30A rating, they work better at 10A to 15A. Me: 10 A don't bother Shockli 26650 3500mAh (Purple) Lygte: This battery has good high current performance, this also means it is not a top performer in capacity. Me: like the Efest purple The reviews are linked to the world Lygte

sydsut, the 35Amp 18650s are obviously rewrapped 20Amp cells. Sorry, obvious to me as there are no 35Amp 18650s out there atm and an as yet unknown name (Shockli) The 26650s are good though, seem to be rewraps (as are the Imrens and Keepowers) - but remember 30Amps continuous. I don't know how others feel about it, but torchy is losing favour with me by quoting the pulse ratings. Prefer to deal with Norbert who actually makes some effort to test and publish the results for all he sells. Sorry took me a while to make that post, thought you were working late lately.

It became apparent to me a while ago that Norbert at Ecolux was making more effort than all the other 'trusted' vendors to ensure he caters for the high power users. He clearly states Peak power and continuous power for all his high power stock. My last purchase last week was 6xAA Li-Mn batteries for £4.95 to use in all the little gadgets I have.... Bargain.

I know, the elephant in the room, I had a web chat with T about chargers once, we didn't quite see eye to eye I prefer them to charge under 4.2 V and absoulty not over 4.25 V.

I'm using a pair of samsung 30q's at the mo' in a dual mech box. They seem to be performing well in my reserved 1.3ohm range (shucks) I did read a little whisper that they tested good for 20amp c with a little to spare..... hmm. Picked them up from ecolux. The LG HG2's btw are impressive in normal use.

Maybe someone tested one that was good to 20Amps, that doesn't make them all safe at 20. Samsung should know, they specced it.

I used to have some panasonic 3400mah but the wrappers are too thick for some mods. These hg2's are excellent, still undecided on the 30q's yet. I'm inclined to agree with you on the 15amp c.

Trying to choose a battery for your new shiny thing? Blooming minefield isn't it? So many different things to consider. It certainly isn't easy. What makes things worse is vendors quoting the maximum Pulse rating, when what we're interested in is the CDR (continuous discharge rate). Once onto your journey you will come to understand what all the numbers mean, and build yourself a collection of 'good' batteries. In the meantime there is NO easy way to learn.
To that end we've compiled an easy 'reference' guide to make it easier to choose a battery. They are listed by power (for regulated mods) and minimum coil resistance (for mechanical mods) to make it easier for you to make those first choices. The wimps have already been weeded out. Once you know what power you need the only 2 other things you want to consider are the mAh (higher generally gives longer running times) and the price.
So what if my regulated mod needs 2 or 3 batteries? Divide the mod's power by 2 for 2 batteries, or 3 for 3 batteries to make your choice. So 3 LG HE4s would be good for a 150Watt 3 battery mod.
There. I've tried to keep it simple. If you have a specific query you can always ask - questions are free. If you want to download a copy to print off, laminate and use as a vaping mat it's availabe here
Further valuable reading regarding the maintenance of these batteries can be found in the Battery Safety and Charging Guide
Credits to all contibuters to this guide. Too many to list but special thanks to VapingBad and hijack.

Good work Ripshod, but centre justified text is more difficult for dyslexics to read.
