Bloody PCs

I opened dells pc tune up and it said there was an update so I updated it, the update removed pc tune up and replaced it with system mechanic I did some checking and dell have indeed set this up as a replacement for their tune up program which was basically system mechanic anyway, no problem thought I, so I ran it. Then all the grief began > First the scan decided that I never had an antivirus program so I thought bugga! there must be a problem with the antivirus program, I checked that and there was an update to the latest version that had just been released, great I thought I'll run the program update and it'll overwrite the original and fix any issues, so hit the download button and run the set-up exe. mid way through system mechanic decided that it was going to block the installation ??? how? it doesn't even have that kind of functionality so I disabled the bugga and carried on with the anti-virus install. , 10mins later, just as the whole install was about to complete- system mechanic pipes up again, I thought- how?- I disabled it ??? so I uninstalled it and waited for the antivirus to install. Once it installed the pc needed a restart but so did the uninstall for system mechanic so I let it happen hoping that they wouldn't conflict, It wouldn't restart so I shut it down and restarted it in safe mode, Whilst in safe mode I ran registry mechanic to have a look at the registry and the scan found 426 registry errors all pertaining to system mecanic Bugga this I thought, so I restarted and it all booted up just fine but windows couldn't find the antivirus So I uninstalled the antivirus again and performed a registry scan and cleared all the crap out of the registry, restarted and re-installed the antivirus program, Bingo- all up and running sweet as then I looked at the clock- 4 HOURS AND 35 MINS had gone by > > > >

Aww poor old Blakey I feel for you mate my hard drives are creaking out 1 by 1 , I had 4 and down to the last ... new pc required asap .. then to the laborious task of recovering all the stored information from semi dead hard drives

It's all up and running now and bullet quick cos I though I'd sort a few other bits and bobs out whilst I was at it Just thought I'd share my frustration to anybody that fancied a laugh
