Well I took mine apart cause I wasn't too happy with it anyways and was hardly using it. I still can't see any LED and there are three wires.
One ground (black) from top of battery soldered to the cap..
One ground (black) from same point in battery as above and taped to the battery itself running all the way down to the battery connector.
I red wire from bottom of battery to the flow meter circuit. Then a teal coloured wire runs from the air flow sensor to the posi connection at the battery connector end.
May be it was made with different designs..

Sounds the same - I couldn't get mine to fire unless the atty connector holding part was contacted with the case.

I popped the flow sensor out of it's silicone shroud and all I can see after is the battery connector and the teal wire.. Do you think it's in the air flow sensor itself?

No - it's on the pcb at the top of the battery.

Those SMD components can be hard to spot!

I think I read a post on UKV where Trog (the designer) said that there was a small light inside the sdk, due to it useing the auto electrics it came as part of the circuit, but they had chosen for it to be hidden inside. He said that if you cupped your hand around the sdk or a dark room then there was a good chance you would see it slightly.

I spent blooming ages one night till I realised it was under the atty DOH!
