I've had a few bad vaping days recently josie so I can completely empathise with you.
I don't have a lava tube, so can't advise. Are the atties your using just regular run of the mill ones? If so you maybe flooding them. This would explain why your getting juice in your mouth. Also, maybe slacken off the attie abit. Might be screwed on to tight. I was advised to do the same with my GGTB & it seemed to solve the problems I was having with tight draw.

What voltage have you got your LT set at Josie and what are you using on it?

I can't help with the LT as I haven't got one. But agree with Anne & Hissie that an overfilled carto can do that.

Is there any juice in the connection cup? Where the atomiser/cartomiser screws into on the lavatube, if there's any juice in there it makes the draw massively tight. It can be hard to tell if there's any in there sometimes, especially if it's clear liquid.

Well, I've had a bad vaping day. Firstly, I had left my SDK stood upright with a CE2 on top, and some collected juice got inside and made the auto switch stick. Took it to bits (easy - screw on an old carto and wiggle), there was definitely juice in side, and an LED whose flashing indicated it need a charge too. Put it back together and charged it, took a full charge. Tried again and now it doesn't work at all Secondly, I ran a tank full of HS Impulse through my Stardust. I know this has a tendency to carbonise quite badly, but thought I might get away with it. It turned quite dark by the end of the fill, and then the subsequent fill of mango tasted odd, and went from pale pink to dark brown Had to tip half of it away I've given it a good wash out and dry burn, but it doesn't seem quite as vivacious as before, and the wick ends still look blackened. So there you go, a deaded SDK and a gunged up Stardust. Taking solace in some FV grape juice in a CE2 (hmmm)

Sorry to hear about your bad day domesticextremist..
There is no LED inside the SD Keyring..That "light" you see is the orange flow switch..Most likely you have broken the ground connection which is soldered to the top cap.

There is pnly a single wire from the flow switch to the atty connector centre pin (I figured this out whilst toking with it in bits). The LED is mounted on some circuitry on top of the battery. True, though, it might have been flashing because of too long tokes, but it did take a full four hour charge. I'll probably be fiddling later on, so I'll try and grab some pics. Meanwhile, the Stardust seems to have perked up a bit - maybe it as just . So it's not all bad.
