Well the Maudsley - LOL - www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-32982669And I heard the piece and the only chap they could find who was in favour of NRT had depression and anxiety - entirely different to psychosis This will also mean e-cigs.....and charging lithium batteries I am also voting for banning the goggle boxes; docs laptops and nurses iphones (cos they have the same battery cells as e-cigs) cos I'm nice

A quote "It says: "Addressing the high prevalence of smoking in people with mental disorders offers the potential to realise substantial cost savings to the NHS, as well as benefits in quantity and quality of life.""
Of course the cost savings are mentioned before quality of life in that sentance!
I guess it would be too expensive to figure out why people smoke in the first place than claim smoking is the major problem. If the mental health services were given more funds in the first place and those funds managed properly too, then there would be a smaller amount of people smoking. It amazes me how much taxes are collected but yet they claim theres not enough funding for health, even if people paid higher taxes it wouldn't make a difference because most of it seems to disappear.
There was also an article a while back about policies in the US wanting to stop soldiers from smoking even in the battlefield in obviously higher stress situations, of course smoking was the main health problem there!

Now i can understand this on normal wards, but on psych wards i think it cause more issues than it solves, maybe a set smoking/vaping room with extractor fans might be a better solution. Yes there probably are a large number of people in the mental health system who smoke/vape, but i am sure there are just as many who arent in the system who also like a nicotine fix
