If you're on an rda........try just one of your 0.5 ohm coils first.
Should still be a good vape at about 35 to 40 watts

Okay, set it all up, took a couple of chuffs, not good. Took casing off, fired it. Flames. No more, lol. Back to my supersafe Kayfun 4 and some lemon cheesecake. Thanks so much for advice; learnt and practiced more, so that's cool, but have definitely learnt to stick with basic building on rta for now.

Got some pliers, tweezers and clippers, but have various little pointy things arriving from FT soon, to cut fiddly stuff, etc.

I think the famous blue screwdriver is 2.5mm in diameter usually, I think you were on the right track with the setup, its just that its better to have the coils setup with the further holes so they can be more centered and also not cause any overlap, any kind of overlapping on the coil can cause the resistance to jump all over and usually the main way a flame can happen on the coil/cotton is when it dries out way too much and has high watts going through, just make sure theres always plenty of juice on the coil and cotton. Those really thick wires such as 22awg are crazy sometimes, they take a fair bit of wattage to even make any heat and they retain heat too, like a small cooker lol You can get higher resistance with 22awg and similar but that'll require many wraps and I found when I tried that, it was better to use thinner wire and less wraps overall. If one coil is heating up faster than the other too even after some prodding of the coils it usually means the coil is not the same size or if theres overlapping then the resistance is different.

Flames? How did you manage that? My every day normal build on my RDA's is 8 wraps of 0.4mm kanthal round a 2.5mm mandrel, a dual coil build comes out at between 0.4 and 0.5 ohms, depends on the atty a bit but at 50w on the atty i'm using right now it's not even a warm vape.

Thanks vapee Great advice. Definitely noticed that parts of the wick were very dry. Just recoiled Kayfun, single coil, 0.5, and did extra soaking of juice, for sure, lol. Flames can't happen if every post, screw, and inch of the coil/cotton is saturated, yes? Used 24awg. Thanks for info on wrapping. It's definitely a fine art!

Thanks Get Off My Cloud Wick certainly had a lot of dry patches, when I blew the flames out and investigated, lol, so I'm sure it was me not using enough juice. Your build sounds great; will definitely refer back to this thread/your specs when come to have a go at the RDA again. What's surprising me most right now is that the Sigelei 150w let this happen; I thought it had safety features, or is that only if you use protected batteries? If so, are there protected Samsung 25r's available?
