As soon as I close the signup spam crap it loses the page!! I shouldn't have to signup to read an article on health!! Guess I'll just have to wait til Monday to read it. Exane BNP Paribas = Cash Equities, Equity Derivatives & Asset Management - so it's definitely about money and not health yh???? ETA: Oh yeah, this is the FT isn't it. So always the money side!!

Summary for folks that are behind the paywall (I don't pay either. Just not yet read enough ft this month.)
Hon Lik describes developing the ecig in early 2000s whilst trying to quit. Forming and building Dragonite, his ecig company, then selling it. (To Imperial Tobacco no less. Hrmph) A rundown of current ecig usage : 2.6 M users in the UK, predicted to overtake burnt tobacco usage within a decade by US analysts. A list of the ANTZ bannings : TFL, Scottish NHS, Southern Rail, and the Welsh proposal. Then in comes Banfield of the BMA. Long term effects aren't known, he says (so ok, ban all mobile phones and well, every new innovation.) Robert West comments. People will die who otherwise would not have, if ecigs are restricted. Almost all scientists agree ecigs are far less harmful than cigs. (Yay!) And then the prize numpty quoted in my original post. Final comment by Mr Lik - technology will improve, and if even one smoker stops it's a win.
