I saw a video on youtube were a bloke put cotton in the coil dry and set temp up in steps and its about 450f when the cotton burns so he set his just under. If this is right fair enough but if wrong sorry Setting the temp limit less than the burn point of cotton so you don't experience dry hits is a plus point, but not the main one imo. Ejuice can be made up of pg, vg, water, and flavour in varying percentages. all these have different boiling points. It's a matter of finding the temp that give the best flavour for a particular juice. I use 80PG/20VG and set the temp between 195c and 205c (380f - 400f) The preheat feature that bumps the wattage up when you press fire to get the coils to your desired temperature quickly with no lag is one of the biggest pluses.

I ordered the same on Friday and got a dispatch email yesterday morning so I'm hoping maybe 2-3 weeks if I'm lucky

UPDATE... Picked up the tank today, tipped it slightly to check how much juice was left and it emptied it ALL out through the air control Not impressed

Hey, did your nebula turn up? Pick mine up at the post office this evening, threw a 6 warp 26g titanium coil in a subtank mini. The resistance is reading low but set the NP to 45, temp to 235c and 37 watts so far it's vaping like a goodun. I did a cotton burn test which it passed no problem. The one issue I've had is the fire button has stuck a couple of times which is a bit irritating.

Reset the TCT filling it the way Smok recommend and it now works a treat, no leaks, TC works nicely and I get a VERY good vape from it

Very comfy in the hand, a lil tall and i too had a sticky power button when 5x clicking hopefully that will wear in and not get worse..

Yeah I'm hoping my button wears in a bit, I've noticed if you push it in and up slightly it doesn't stick. I don't mind the height but then I've always been a fan of tube mods even when I went over to boxes. I think the NP setting already compensates for the low resistance reading as when I cheated the board into reading the resistance correctly it would limit the temp properly.

Do you think you could use stainless steel wire in tc mode I believe the Mod uses a special formula written into the chip for other types of wire as these mods do not have temp sensors but rather use maths to determine the temp of coil. So different wire will require a new formula to workout the actual temp.

some mods allow for different wires to be used in tc mode 1 is the evic vt with nickel and titanium wire options, none im aware of have a ss option currently, i dont think many mods will appear with a user configurable way to change the wire temp/resistance metrics themselves, as a good understanding of this sort of thing would be needed, resistance-temperature-coefficientbut mods with further optional wire profiles preloaded are very likely to appear imho

TCR Temperature Coefficient of Resistance are the rate the coil changes resistance with temp, some newer boards allow you to set these. Nickel: 0.00641 Titanium: 0.0033 (but have also seen different values like 0.0035 for "Titanium 1" so best to ask who you got your wire from) SS 317L / Haywire: 0.00094 (again ask the vendor as it can vary)
The higher the TCR number the more accurate the temp sensing will be, Kanthal and Nichrome have very very small TCR so no good with current tech for temp sensing.
How it works (simplified) The TCR number is how much the resistance rises per degree Celsius above 20 C, EG at 200 C the temp has changed by 180 C so you would multiply the 20 C resistance by 180 * the TCR and add the result to the 20 c resistance. If at 20 C or cold R = 0.5 ohm then 0.5*(200-20)*TCR+0.5 so for Ni 0.5*180*0.00641+0.5 = 1.0769 ohm @ 200 C.

In future we're going to need qualifications in material sciences, metallurgy and mathematics to get the best out of our vaping equipment.

In future we're going to need qualifications in material sciences, metallurgy and mathematics to get the best out of our vaping equipment. We just will need board makers and wire vendors to work together a little so these work at their best, SteamEngine now have a page up you can get the calibration for different wires for the DNA200* and hopfully we will see these on the product pages from wire vendors so you can easily just upload it to your devices in seconds. * the wire profiles are in plain text and a very generic format, just the normalised resistance at a number of temperatures that could be used by any board maker.

Ha ha does read like that but for us mortals the chip does the maths for us....even with the DN200 and the very quick look of the software screen shots I have had of you only set the parameters, the chip still does the mathematics. I'm sure they will be shared for different wire types across the forums etc. ATM personally I have no intention of moving away from NI200 and a chip that's pre set to that, kinda it works don't touch attitude.

Dna40 does it all for me at present. to be honest I've been settled for a while, using kanthal mostly but always have a dripper with a nickel build. I went a bit mad professor a few weeks back and rebuilt everything I have in rotation with a nickel build. I'm blown away by the performance all over again and really back into it. I know 40 watts is plenty as i don't have many builds that require over 20w before temp kicks in, the instant quality vape of having it set to 40w is fab, il prob end up getting the 200 at some point but for now, the dna40 does everything i need and want
