If you oxidize your wick well enough, your mesh slug can rest on the bottom of the atomizer. That's how people did in the hellfire and lux dripper with mesh. The drill bit method is great here. The resistance after you fired up your coil to get that layer of carbon, should not change significantly when you insert your wick. This is the early warning if it does. If you are worried with shorts you can always put a sleeve of Ekowhool around it. Never tried that myself to be honest. going to have to stick some cotton in the base under the mesh wick.

I tried the ekowoll sleeve once, far too fiddly even when you torch it the stuff wants to fray and you have to wrap the coil around it and it clogs so the wick lasts a fraction of the time mesh does.

ok make do you take the topcap off when you drip? i normally just drip down the drip tip but finding the wick isnt getting all the juice, maybe i could push the mesh down so its touching the deck of the origen, or would that cause a short? Yeah, I just pull the whole lot, cap & AFC off & fill the well:- mesh is touching the deck...no shorts 'cos I'm near enough OCD 'bout oxidising it!
