Perpetua I will ask her the serial number. Though I do know it is one of the old ones . That could possibly explain it @yavape as the first/early production run there were known issues with - the serial number is posted on the original thread, something like 000001? I've bought 2 since then, with later numbers and they are both fine - well used and much enjoyed infact. This is what I'm thinking to as I have one of the new ones about a month old and it's been spot on

Sorry to hear that I was hoping that this had ended and glad Vicky is OK it must have been a shock, btw its the mod doing this and not the battery. this was the threadBit of a leap there? That just looks like a dodgy battery shorting to me. Looks nothing like the few where the board failed. But if anyone wants rid, pm me. It's still, and will remain, my go to work mod. Not at all how could a battery cause it?

Agree there Perpetua the early ones were known to have a problem but later ones seem fine, mine is still my adv despite having numerous other newer mods, it just fits the hand right

I does look like a short due to that wiring so there must be a similar fault somewhere between the positive contact and the board for it to do that.
Not something you would want to have to deal with, glad she is ok.

If it arched/sparked at the negative end of the battery when the battery was inserted as it looks from the photos then it is a fault with the mod. It could be the case was at a positive voltage or a short or high current path between the battery contacts. It does not look like the previous fault, but the photos are not detailed to tell much more.
