Vt40 help

Only just got the thing and I'm ready to bin it, I have a nickel coil 0.55ohm in it and trying to do cotton test but it don't matter what setting ie watts or temp it just burns the cotton

Any tips?

it's a pre made 0.3mm, 29 AWG, 0.2ohm 12 loops

Get the ohms down, try between .01 & .02

What letsavit said, seems quite high, thought 0.20ohms was the ideal build give or take

That's your problem mate...if it reading it as .5 then 200f will be more like 500f . Check connections, another coil, wire etc. you gotta get the resistance read correctly for it to work.

Just put the same coil on Sig75 and it reads 0.16 WTF?

Just put another on Vt40 and it reads 0.26 getting closer

Both the attie and the mod need to be cool and at the same temperature to get an accurate base reading

That's closer...although it start to mark cotton lower than it should, maybe around 390f .....close enough to work but heat it a couple of time and leave for a while to refine. Might get to where is needs to be, then lock it...!

What are these pre made coils, who makes then?

well so far so good,

0.26ohm 25w 450f and its a slight mark on cotton test

it made slight mark at 450f

They are fasttech ones, this mod is the only one to play about with them lol

Sounds like that's what the coil ohm is then and not as specced..... Glad you sorted it ..

Edit.. Guess you have shortened the legs too, hence a little higher..

Got my vt this morning and I can't fault it. Using the subtank mini with a .18 coil at 450f and 25 watts and performing really well
