Squeeze the air out and double zip lock bags. Filled tanks will leak, so empty before packing.

I emptied a tank of 36mg of 100% pg (no flav) each way on a couple of recent long haul flights, not suggesting anyone else should tho Sellotape worked for me round unmarked juice bottle caps that were in a zip locked bag, having said that there were a couple of bottles hiding in my rucksack that I'd forgotten about from a previous trip.

I agree with Ripshod. If you don't squeeze the air out they will almost certainly leak, if you do they probably won't. They almost certainly won't. 15 flights in the last 7 months, bottles in my top pocket, no cling film or any mucking about, not a drop lost. It's just the same as any other liquid you take. Unless they get bashed about. You're not flying into outer space.

Have you ever watched an empty water bottle crush down as a plane descends? Roughly 30%. So the pressure of the air in a juice bottle will increase significantly relative to the cabin air as the aircraft climbs. Any small weakness will leak. Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it won't.
It's a bit like saying 'I never crashed my car at 120, therefore it's safe for me to drive at 120 all the time'.
Second appearance this week for my word of the week - relative.

With regards to the thread title, they will leak if they hit a wall whilst airborne............I lobbed a rather unpleasant bottle of juice into the air, in dissapointed disgust & on coming into contact with the wall on the opposite side of the room, it burst & leaked everywhere.................So let that be a lesson to me...............

Out of interest, does the air expand much more than the liquid? I'm going to squeeze air out, double-bag and hope for the best!

Yes, it's generally the air that expands, by about 30% Therefore eliminating the air should minimise any expansion. I'd be inclined not to put clingfilm under the caps as this may compromise the seal not improve it.

Exactly my thinking DiscoDes, I have 89p's worth of ziplok bags (equating to .89p each!) from my local bargain shop, plus some larger A5 thick plastic document bags, also with ziplok, so I'm hoping that that will do the job adequately.
