I can also vouch for the effectiveness of these Monster bases; I have one currently coiled with nickel, but will this morning bang a low-ohm Kanthal coil in and use more wick as per hijack's post above. I too use Goblins and Orchids, and the monster KFL base certainly does perform on a par with those tanks, and I also DLI as opposed to MTL. Great and helpful post - thanks!

Just put a .8ohm coil Kanthal coil in, loads of wick in the juice channels, and it's performing really well. No more leakage from below than usual until the vacuum is established, and chucking out the clouds. It just needs a few seconds between tokes to re-juice the coil, but this may just be down to my wicking. Trying out some well-matured Minty the Toff, and it's really nice

It just needs a few seconds between tokes to re-juice the coil, but this may just be down to my wicking. Yeh I think a bit of fine adjustment how much wick dips into the channel and how densely its packed would improve flow. Im in the same place with the replacement base, having just figured it needs more wick than the original. Looking at them both there are some differences that may indicate a different place of manufacture. forgive the slightly out of focus pic(left monster replacement...right monster full) Ignoring the fill screw as that is one of the bits I swapped out. The number could be a part number indicating full kit and spare base. But the style and depth of the engraving are very different, which is odd, if they come out of the same factory. Apart from the bottom I see no difference. So for me, I think its more a case of having got the first one running perfect, I kept doing the same on the second one for a couple of days, wondering why it wasnt behaving the same. Going to wick again when I finish this tank and start reducing the wick to see if I find a sweet spot.

Mine is a replacement base and also has the shallow engraving, the same as the one from your full kit.

Finally got the second base set up so it wouldn't leak when left upright. Dont know why it would cause the problem, but after i tightened the center screw underneath a 1/4 turn it stopped behaving like a siphon and the leak has stopped.
