I used to deliver liquid sugar in a tanker for Tate & Lyle, you can imagine the wasps around the delivery point, they really have no interest in humans, unless threatened, I was scared witless the first few times but got used to sitting around them, most of them got literally drunk and were very docile.

But in regards to the wasps attracted to the table where you exhaled vapour, have you seen the windscreen of your car if you vape in there, definitely a visible film

Wasp landed in my cider yesterday, managed to tip him out (was not wasting it), we had a fun 10 minutes watching him trying to climb blades of grass and falling off, he was probably half pi**ed anyway as the pub was surrounded by apple trees. I was kind though, did not charge him for what he drunk, wish the landlord would have taken the same attitude to me lol.

That was a male wasp the females are usually found on phones.
