As the title says..... Would TC work on genisis attys using mesh ? & if it will, does it have to be a specific grade of mesh ? thinking about it myself I would imagine the temp would reach the set temp quicker because of the metal mesh as a wick ? .....or am I just talking bollocks ?? Thanks Markus

I presume you can get SS mesh, but NI or TI ?. Interesting point though.

I've never worked out how mesh operates, surely the coil still gives the resistance, is the mesh conductive? I didn't think it should be

I wasn't very lucky with mesh to start with To prep it is a right barstool if you don't know the way to do it Cut it a wee bit over size as you have to fold in 2 sides ,it's a bit hard to exsplane but I'll try You have to fold the bottom in and a side Trorch the heck out a it like 6 times Soke it in juice and set fire to it for like 6 times This builds up a non conductive coat of black stuffs (carbon) Now roll it up with the folds inwards and the fold on the side ending up on the end of the roll with the fold facing inwards as well This is done because sharp edges cause shorts It should work OK with tc as it's just a wick and here are a few that do use genies with mesh and tc If you can find the video were the guy uses cotton wool in the middle it helped me out no end Just rem the soaking in juice and setting fire to as that seems to stop shorts Have (rofl)fun

Been using mesh and ss rope for temp limiting since October and it is easier than with Kanthal as the softer nickel is easier to wrap the wick with, the only c aviate is the pre-heat can cause the odd arc especially if you have it > 150 W. I never bother folding the end of the mesh and lately I do minimal pulsing of the coil. When pulsing turn temp control off to disable pre-heat and turn the wattage right down and work the wattage up as you work out any hot spots or arcs. Be careful of the arcs as these can burn through the mesh in a fraction of a second and weaken the wire. Nickel doesn't last nearly as long as Kanthal, 2-4 weeks where Kanthal can last a year. For cleaning I vape them dry and dry burn with temp limiting active then put the whole atty in the ultrasonic with just water. I just use an Origenny V2 clone with wick holes drilled to 3.5 mm, 3 mm ss rope, 2 layers of #500 mesh with the mesh extending throught the wick holes in the deck. For DNA40s with the max res of 0.1 ohm I wise 2 strands of 0.16 mm (34 AWG) Ni200 6-7 wraps on each wick, on DNA200s I wise ribbon Ni200 5-6 wraps with the pre-heat between 80 and 120 W. I have the pre-heat lower on new builds as the risk of arching. ETA vape these at 36 W as on 10 mg liquid and be very careful not to kink the Ni200 when wrapping , especially the ribbon.

If you can find the video were the guy uses cotton wool in the middle it helped me out no end Just rem the soaking in juice and setting fire to as that seems to stop shorts Have (rofl)fun You moved away from using mesh now then decoy ? I use just mesh & mesh with silica in the middle, first few times I think I used too thicker wick & it compacted too much when I rolled the mesh which restricted the juice flow & gave me dry hits. I dont soak the wick, I just roll the mesh & give it a good torch to burn off anything on it, wrap the wire round the mesh & fix it on the atty, give it some pulses just to get rid of any hot spots & get the wire glowing to an even colour.....chuck some juice in the tank & pulse it again to build up a bit of carbon & away I go. I tried cotton, rolled it into the mesh & then torched the mesh....(obviously burning the cotton to dust)....and then thought....you dick!...So I'll have to look for that video to see how he does it...lol Thats some nice builds there VapingBad, I havent tried wire wick yet, happy with just the mesh, but I might have a dabble oneday. Ive already ruined a few wicks by letting the wire get too hot...I think im getting the knack of it...and then I ruin another...lol but thats not very often now. I clean my wicks a bit differently, heating up the coil end & then dipping it in cold water, seems to help in getting the crud off.....well.... thats what I believe.. lol it does make life so simple as I have few spare cleaned wicks & it doesnt take me 2 mins to swap to a new wick. Must admit I like the ribbon wire, tend to use it on nearly every build now, Its a pity Nickel doesnt last as long, I'd better buy a bit more than I was going to ! Do you buy tempered or anealed ?? thanks for the advice, as always with you a well informed reply :-) Thanks for the replies peoples, cant wait to get some Ni200 & try this TC out ;-)

i dont have any attys that use mesh anymore but but did have a ud geni type atty wasnt keen on the metallic taste (prob user error)but it leaked like a bugger so i gave up on it vapeing bad has pointed me in the right drection for a good genni from gearbest so when funds allow will try again im still trying to get tc to work right for me(seem to get it right for a wee bit then dry hit hell) eg new toy came yesterday a sig 75 and i rebuilt occ head for sub tank with .3 ni200 ,all the way to work it was lush got down to half a tank and then it went bad(i do chain vape) just got home and rebuilt a rebuilable base for the subtank and its lush again for now im prob trying to push to much power throw it or summat but i thought the idea of tc was no dry hits but i get more on tc than kanthal get tc working on an atty you know 1st before adding a new prob
