Well I was vaping away on one of my Riva batteries (the only one I haven't fiddled with), when it suddenly stopped working. Pressing the button it gave three flases. Swapped on a carto in case that was the problem - press thre blinks. Pres again, nothing.
Hmm, odd maybe it needs a charge (though it had only had an hour or so use). Put on charger, red light, but no flashing button.
Hmm, don't like the look of that.
Cracked it open and there is a really odd smell. Got some spare ego electrics and touched across the terminals and light start flashing, so the battery is good.
I've now replaced the electrics and looking at the old board, one of the components looks a bit molten and there is a lingering stench of burned bakelite. There was no sign of juice ingress, so I can't figure out why this suddenly decided to end it all
Anybody have any clues?

I used the Riva charger that I use with the others. It died before I tried charging it...

is it possible the ground lead (or any of the wires) came loose from dropping or knocking the riva? if the button was repeatedly pressed while not being grounded then the circuit would short i think and leave a burn.

Hmm, possibility. I had been tinkering trying to put an ss mesh wick in my iMist. It is possiblr that I partially shorted the coil making it below the resistance the Riva can handle...maybe.

Riva's are notorious for not being able to handle low res , I have taken 2 out this way (LR) cartos so if you have made an accidental short it may well be buggered

The more I think about it, the more certain I am that that is the cause. Doh. Lucky I had some Ego circuit boards around really
