Was watching Rambo on the old telly lastnight and it prompted me to dig out my replica First Blood knife and dust it off. One of the few things i kept from my days of collecting and making replica movie props. This beauty was hand made by a fella named Andy Wood and was just one of those things where i first saw it and immediately said i need that. To say that Andy is a little obsessive about Rambo knives would be a massive understatement he used to run an entire website dedicated solely to Rambo knives so he took great care to make this thing as close to the actual movie knife as possible, the type of steel used, the shape, the bevels, the cuts, the bead blasting, the handle wrap, the sheath, the wet stone virtually everything is as bang on close to the original as possible. The one area not accurate is the type of compass used in the hilt cap, the type used on the actual production knives unfortunately is a rare type not readily available and replicas are not available either so a substitute type was used, the compass is never seen on screen anyway. Although not strictly a limited edition piece it kinda turned out that mine is actually a limited piece because of the stamp on the blade and sheath. Jimmy Lile was the knife maker who made all the knives for the original movie production, when Andy started making these knives he got permission from the Lile Knife Co to use the Lile stamp, not sure exactly what happened but for one reason or another permission was withdrawn shortly after Andy started selling his knives so now they no longer feature that stamp. As far as i remember there are about 20 knives that have the Lile stamp on i have number 14. The later versions featured his own stamp. Looks like Andy has now set up a new website check him out if you like hand made knives his work is great and he's a nice bloke to deal with. Doesn't seem to have a price advertised on his new site for the Rambo knife so not sure if he's still taking orders for that knife, it was £750 when i got mine some years back. www.woodknives.com/index.php/survival-knives/mk.html

Yeah you can get a really sharp edge on damascus steel and it has the added bonus of just being stunning to look at.
