Today the vt has decided it seems to go all McKee on me and refuse to let me vape. When fire is pressed it flashes a temp reading (that I guess is the current F of the coil) and instantly displays the max temp set, and isn't firing. Removing and refitting the atty, using different attys, using Ti and Ni attys, locking resistance, unlocking resistance, turning it off and on again (working in IT you get used to that), putting it on charge, setting the power to 60W, setting the power to 30W, nothing seems to work. It does exactly the same thing in all cases. The 510 and atty connections have been cleaned with isopropyl thoroughly.
Just ordered an istick 40W TC in case. But am I missing something obvious or more tweaky?

Well you havent had it that long as its new....Has it been working OK with the same Ti set up as used on it before?
OK reading what you are saying again and it is is both TI and NI that you have the same problem? Has it ever worked with Ni or Ti before?
Sounds like you are trying all the things I would try. I have just got one of these this week...Its been working well so far. It did have an episode where the screen went do-lally and started scrolling from left to right and it was unreadable as it placed lots of wierd symbols over the screen. I paniced and pressed the fire button 3 times and the button that coresponds to the 'system off' funnction, when I switch it back on all was OK again. I've posted a video for you of me firing some Ni coils on it so you can see what it should look like...I dont know if it will help identify what your is not doing that mine is. Should be there in a few mins from now.
The message at the end was just the 10sec timer kicking in.

im sure you have tried this but pull the battery and press the fire button to discharge any residual current before refitting a battery and restarting?? beware of pin prick holes that look like they may hide a reset button as they look identical to led light view holes

If you still cant get it working you may find something on joytech updatesYou may be able to flash the firmware back on the mod in case it is that that is at fault. If you do make sure you read up on the process and dont attempt if you are unsure, if a flash goes wrong you may end up with a blank screen.

I only suggest this as you didn't state what temp it was set for, if it is very low it may explain it, but I doubt it is the answer here. Good starting temps are 400 F & 200 C.

You have probably done this davetherayon but reading through the manual I noticed a couple of things: Please unlock the the resistance before you change to another atomizer or the VT system will not work.
After fitting a new atomizer coil (to your tank) press the power button while the tank is removed to initiate a reset. Worth a try?

It came back to life; in the most unexpected way. The firmware installed is 1.10, coincidentally that was something I checked a few days back after looking at a review (pbusardo or rip) which showed how to display the version. The latest firmware on the joyetech site was 1.10. However I reasoned that a re-flash might reset whatever had gone awry and downloaded the image. Next step was to link the vt via usb to the computer, which was a bust as the PC didn't recognise it as a new device (Windows 10). However it did show signs of charging off the usb port. But more surprisingly, it was then firing correctly. AND instead of reading full battery, the evic battery meter dropped to about 50%. So whatever weirdness it had experienced was involving the charging circuitry.
Got the Titanium-coiled Erlikongen on it now and it's working ok. Only does a 3 to 4 second draw before hitting TC, an issue with the coil I believe. At least it's not totally borked. Thanks everyone for your input.

Its working that the main thing. I have a feeling that you would need to install separate USB drivers for updating a mod using windows. I had to do this when flashing a custom ROM to my tablet. It was the trickiest bit of the whole process as windows wont install them automatically and you have to do it manually and direct windows to where you saved the downloaded drivers. I saw the evic mini has a new update so I am giong to have a go later.
