Does anybody know how many mg of nicotine were/are contained in the average hand rolled cigarette? I've come up with 1.4mg, but wonder if that is accurate.

As an ex rollie smoker I have often wondered that, Iwould say anywhere between 1 and 1.4mg, but that also depends on what you call average and what brand you smoke. I'd say you are in the right ballpark though.

I often wonder wether I have cut down on nicotine since smoking or not
Edit: just did some "light" reading. From what I can tell your body actually absorbs on average 1mg of nicotine per cigarette. Roll ups I would say (my opinion) your body on average for an average roll up would absorb around .6/.7 mg of nicotine. I could be wrong as whilst roll ups contain less tobacco I'm not sure how the filters compare. However when ever I smoked roll ups, whilst they were smaller I found I tended to smoke more of them. Probably to make up for the lack of nicotine in an individual roll up.
Anyways seems a pack of 20 cigarettes your body will absorb approx 20mg of nicotine
