Hi banditruss I just use warm water for 2 8 minute cycles and I clean my nickel coils in them just drop them in. I have found that I can do this a few times to extend the life of sealed coils. I haven't tried Kanthal coils as I don't have any sealed ones.

I can't see any reason why not although I have never tried I think it depends on your wicking material I use cotton. I've always cleaned the parts of rebuildables in the sonic cleaner including rubbers. I am someone that will always give it a try especially with something that would otherwise be thrown out nothing lost then.

banditruss I stick stock coils in there and just recently chucked a rba deck with coils still attached and not been a problem. My steps are as follows 1. Disassemble tanks 2. Boil kettle 3. Little washing liquid 4. Fill cleaner with kettle water 5. Insert tray/dish with items in 6. Stick on 4x 600sec cycles (or more) 7. Remove tray/dish empty water 8. Refill with just water from kettle 9. Reinsert tray/dish 10. Stick on for another 4x 600sec cycles 11. Remove items and place on kitchen towel and leave to dry on Windows sill. 12. Tidy up or I get a smack where it hurts

I have cleaned my TFV4 coils in mine.
Rinse off any residual juice under the tap.
fill ultrasonic with very hot water (not boiling) just enough to cover the items with "1" drop of fairy liquid.
I do not use the plastic insert/tray as I read that it cuts the effectiveness of the sonic waves by up to 30%.
Put it through 2 or 3 or more 8 minute sessions.
Then replace water with warm fresh water without the detergent and give it another couple of sessions.
Let them dry naturally in a warm place, then re-use as required.
Works great, I use the above system for all my gear.
Depending on how clogged your coils are, you may need to do the above soapy wash more times and you will reach a point where they are beyond cleaning, so will need replacing.

People have reported great results with wibbly water machines when a drop of vodka or isopropyl alcohol is added to the water. Trouble is you pour a glass of voddy for yourself, add a teaspoon of vodka to the bath, take another drink, forget what you were doing, add a teaspoon to the bath, have another drink, bath the teaspoon, pour another, bath the teaspoon in the vodka, take a glug, spoon the bath in the bath... zzzzz

There is a JML one where the tank separates from the electrics that looks decent, If you have over a onner to spend get one that is 13" wide and at least 5" deep and clean your vinyl in it.
