I've just bought these from Moju: www.mojurepublic.com/products/18650-High-Drain-Rechargeable-Batteries-%282%29.htmlI initially got them for use in my LT (which I know has protective circuitry against unprotected batteries etc) but I have a parallel 18650 mod which doesn't have any protective circuitry and I would like to use the new batteries but I'm not sure if 'safer chemistry' means they'll be okay in an unprotected circuit? Could someone in the know let me know please...... ....Thanks

IMR batteries are made of safer chemistry which means there is no risk of venting with flame or explosion... therefore there is no need for protection circuit built in to the battery.

They are safer than the stock Li-Ion but I would recommend some kind of over current/short circuit protection in any batteries that use Lithium. It can be something as simple and small as a inline 3 amp wall plug tube fuse before the power switch.
That's all protection is. An inline fuse.
They can heat up to 200 degrees centigrade within a few seconds when shorted.

As macca says, They can heat up when short circuited but inside a mod its going to be extremely unlikely. They are the batteries that Moju sell with the Megaladon which is a mechanical mod with no protection and thus the batteries I bought with mine. They have been excellent little IMRs and I have used them in all of my mods. Mine have been going strong for about 7 months.

Thanks Guys! I forgot I posted this Q. So far I've only used in my LT, which isn't getting much use at the mo so the batteries are lasting a good few days! I will give them a trial in my mod and see how much difference they make?

Yup, its a pair of moju 18650's I use in my VV mod and have had no issues whatsoever. So far 4 months using them and they are charged and used every day and no issues or drop in performance.
My mod has collapsing springs to break circuit when a short happens.
