hi all - hope this is in the right forum so I have this intell charger I2, which I bought quite a while ago and have not used for quite a while - cause as I wrote already I preferred usb chargeable mods only - till I got convinced and converted to the kanger subox - loooooooooooove it anyhow - this charger charges nibble head batteries ( for our torch ) without a problem but seems to have problems with flat head batteries - they charge fine, when put into the mod and charged via usb - but don't seem to charge on the charger ??? hm - any ideas - time to buy a new charger ? thanks

It could just be the positive (fixed) contacts are not making connection with the flat top connection of the battery. Where a nipple will successfully make contact the large flat area of the charger's contact can rest on the insulation at the top end of the battery and not actually touch the battery connection. If you have battery contact magnets then you could use them, or maybe try placing a small screw or short bit of bared wire between battery and contact but be careful not to short anything like if it was to fall into the charger.

A strange one to be sure Clivia. I own an I2 and an I4 and have never had issues with flat top cells. There should be a bulge in the centre of the +ve charging contact to ensure it contacts the +ve terminal of a flat top cell. If this is not present I'd be worried about having a fake unit. Which cells are you using by the way? I've tried 25Rs, vct4/5s and a range of efest flat tops on the intellicore chargers with no issues. Any chance you could post an image of the +ve terminals on your charger for us to have a nosey at?

Much the same as what the guys have said if it's only flat tops then are the battery's heat sink and plastic ring too high....Ie above the + , battery on the right Or the postive tabs on the i2 pushed in, not producing out past the case plastic... Tabs near the battery meter.

Good point letsavit , Ive seen this very issue on the -ve poles on cells preventing mech mods from firing (the ones with large -ve contacts at least). All it takes is the shrink wrap to be 1 or 2 mm off and a terminal can be covered enough for connection issues.

It's a common issue (I find), sometimes you need to sit the battery just so to make contact with flat-tops, funny enough just had the very issue 5 mins before I read/posted this - thought my charger had died in transit

I just put them in and give them a quick roll with my finger and it works

As thatguy says, posting a picture of terminals/charger ...would speak a thousand words.
