Hi guys, did anyone got stung by customs duty for the packages from gearbest? First order I ever placed on gearbest and I got stung by customs, 11 quid for about 70 dollars worth of stuff. I always used fasttech and never got stung. Some times my orders use to be over 100 dollars as well. Wondering if customs pay extra attention to packages from gearbest.

did you pay for premium couriers to deliver quickly perhaps? I have only gotten stung for VAT and handling charges when ive used DHL or similar couriers with far east purchases. fasttech will fill in the customs declarations when sent via basic postal services simply as parts or filters, but when a premium cost courier gets involved the customs declarations get filled in with more detail and honesty. well thats my theory

Nha just normal snail post. Been on fasttech for years n never got stung. Hence I was surprised to get stung. I guess my luck had to run out sometime. But makes me think twice before ordering from gearbest. I'll stick to fasttech for now.

I've been stung once from one of there parcels but it was for only 4 pound something, I've had a few orders from them it depends on what they mark it as, they have been marking as filter parts and I haven't had to pay extra for those ones funny thing is they are marked also as sent by my name ltd which is strange but I haven't had to pay any extra so I'm not complaining lol the one I did pay extra on was marked as from gearbest

buying from gearbests EU warehouse which is in the UK will negate any worries.. if the items your after are not stocked in the eu warehouse pop onto one of the gearbest threads in here and tag isabel22 and ask her to see if she can get the stock you want in the eu warehouse, she can only say no

Wondering if customs pay extra attention to packages from gearbest. Not likely, is it? Not really even feasible.

I looked at the declaration and the value packaged is declared at 22.50 Euros and the box "documents" is ticked where as all the packages from fasttech are ticked as "Gifts" maybe that's what made them check it.

if the package cost declared by vendor + post taxes are less than 30 euro for example in Cyprus is tax free . doesn't matter the courier , dhl ems etc ..all together to be a max amount of 30 euro ...think vendor declaration (the real one) in your case is bigger rana

A quick Google and hey presto you have an approx value.

Gifts are also vat/duty exempt, a few years back i was after a hi spec lappy not release in the EU market, More than one 'helpful' chinese supplier was more than happy to gift wrap and send with a birthday card
