Maybe a bit too obvious, but Im a noob mixer, finally got around to starting tonight, a wee baby mix of 20ml In the above you mention putting the cap back on and shaking, then leaving alone, Whenever Ive bought juice Ive always taken the lid and then the nozzle off, before putting in a cold dark place for a week or so, do I not need to take the nozzle off? It's not necessary to do any of this happyloman with readymix . . . . a 12 hour ' breathe ' for DIY eliquid is useful especially if there's any alcohol in the mix, but not vital. However any eliquid, bought or home mixed steeps/blends/infuses far better at room temperature. Cold temperatures will inhibit the process with either . . . . .

TBH I have never got the leave it in the cold dark place bit, The reason I say this is as a lot of people recon that a warm bath ( by one of many ideas out there) help to steep your juice so in my mind warm is better than cold. So I just mix with a frother then chuck in the airing cupboard (so warm and dark) for 24hrs un capped then recap and leave it in there for a few weeks.

Please can someone advise me on how to cut my glycerine only juice, without using pg. I react badly to pg. I have mixed my own juice for 4 years using only glycerine and it gives great vapour, but burns my atomisers out really quickly. I'm sure this has been covered before, but please indulge me! Thanks in advance

Or you could purchase aqueous glycerin which contains the dilutant already Katfish. I still need to give this a go. When I get to zero nic (hopefully soon), being able to do just flavour and then fill up with AG would be such a doddle example - Aqueous Glycerin

Ok, great post Kreed, thank you. If I want to make larger amounts of liquid having found one I love, say 250ml, I read somewhere that you can use small scales. Could you remind me if it's 1gm equal to 1ml or have I got that completely wrong! Also what would be the ideal range on the scales if you have to include a container. I found one on ebay that goes up to 2000gms. Would this be enough?

Where Botboy writes: Life's too short to deal with specific gravities for individual concentrates.

Life's too short to deal with specific gravities for individual concentrates. Life is too short period to get hung upon exactitudes of measurements , no matter what method is used to mix. Home mixing is about creating something that you enjoy creating and using, not catering in bulk.

Another little hint...keep those bottles.
The 100ml tablet style (like the ones you can get nutrient suppliements in, hangsen liquids come in them) are great for VG and VG nic as the wide opening lets you get a syringe without needle in. Trust me, once you use a needleless syringe on VG based stuff you'll feel like your in heaven.
The 200ml bottles that boots VG comes in...great for mixing larger batches of juice. The 10/30ml bottle from premade juices or concentrates...recycle them. The tomato ketchup bottles..fill them with water to soak your kids. Those bottles can all be useful in different ways, hold onto them if you can.
Biscuit/sweet tins - ideal to store empty bottles/concentrates/steeping liquids etc
And a final tip..... Everything tastes good after a menthol bacon juice.

kreed, I'm starting to think about getting some ingredients but I'm a bit confused about steeping. Do all juices need to be steeped? Do only some flavours need to be steeped? Are there any that don't need to be steeped at all?
